Re: Podcasts I like or don't like

Must say I too enjoy Tony's rambling editorials. But I understand the points of view who those who don't, I am assuming the new format being offered is in part a response to this (I have no doubt we are the only ones commenting so) but for the short term it doesn't necesarily seem effective if it do...

Re: Drabblecast 166- Jubilee by Tim Pratt

Overall I liked Podcastle's story better myself - more just from a mood perspective than anything, I guess. Podcastle's story ended on a note of hope and beauty, whereas this story, while ultimately kind of optimistic, was pretty darn creepy. :p Poor little misunderstood fish warrior things. I wonde...

Re: Drabblecast 164- The Observer by Kristine Kathryn Rusch

There are laws because the majority of people establish the rules. Which reinforces my point that DC will have a bigger audience if it avoids obscenity. That's all I'm sayin. Sure. DC could have a bigger audience if it switched to playing nothing but Jonas Brothers music, too. (never mind the legal...

See I liked the format. I don't mind the juxtaposition of a darker story with the lighter stuff, if anything it keeps it from just been too dark an episode overall.

And I didn't think this was a weak story. Evidently there is going to be some severe difference in opinion on this matter though :p

Re: Drabblecast 164- The Observer by Kristine Kathryn Rusch

It wasn't the concept per se, it was the way the concept was used in the story. I felt it was more for shock value then anything else. It fed into a stereotype of women in some innocent and harmless state of motherhood that usually needs protection. The character could have just as well been a man, ...

Re: Drabblecast 164- The Observer by Kristine Kathryn Rusch

The main story was a BIG eh. I really, really have heard the 'war is hell' theme enough in one lifetime unless it's extraordinarily well done. This wasn't. I really felt like between countless sci-fi stories from Enders Game to Robocop I've heard it all before. Sometimes in the exact same way. I fo...

Re: Drabblecast 164- The Observer by Kristine Kathryn Rusch

RE: the squids not being much of warriors vs. not many coming back alive - the implication seems to me to be they wind up turning on each other. The way they were described, the warrior aspects of these ladies aren't exactly well-controlled. So they destroy and once they've destroyed and once they'v...

Re: Drabblecast 162- Birdwatcher by Garth Upshaw

I must confess the main story kinda baffled me a little bit. May require a re-listen, I'm not sure. The Drabble really made me think, and I realize I may have to reconsider the interior design at my place. Maybe the Wall of Spleens was not such a great idea. And nipples, who doesn't love those? I wa...

Great story, excellent reading. The rage virus made me think of '28 Days Later,' but if it were written by, say, Monty Python. :) Also made me think of this (NSFW.. eventually) http://strangebeautiful.net/muse/durham/mdurham_businessreply.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Now if you...

Re: Drabblecast 160- Trifecta XII

All three were awesome, but 'Sock Heroes' was a personal favorite for me. I mean, people take socks for granted. I mean, its so easy to assume they're just these scraps of fabric we throw on our feet for a while to keep our shoes from getting smelly. This story reveals the truth. They're not just fo...

Hilarious song. As soon as I realized it was a Little Shop parody I grinned ear to ear. (love that musical).

RE: the story - enjoyed the skewering of the Evil Overlord archetype. Poor Dr. Diablo, getting screwed over because his boss does something dumbass. Again.

Beautiful story. Fascinating worldbuilding, just a really snapshot of a race who've made a discovery that will change everything about how they think about the world and their role in it. This race seems very young to me (how could they know so little of half their life cycle?). It makes me wonder i...

Re: Drabblecast 156- Going to the Chapel by Sandra Odell

I really enjoyed the juxtaposition of Southern culture and alien.. weirdness. I think that's one of the main things that makes the story as fun as it is. I mean you could stage the same story in NYC and I don't think it would come off a fraction as playfully amusing as it did. There's something abou...
