Re: Drabblecast 086 - Half-Sneeze Johnny

Clever but I had trouble believing anyone would have this particular sneezing impediment (and even more trouble believing it woudl be combined with a perfect ability to since deception from others) -

Coudln't quite buy it, but kinda fun.

Re: Drabblecast 084 - Doublheader 1

Liked the first story - think the narration added a LOT to it (made it very creepy) - LOVED the seond one. The satire was just spot-on. And Norm's commentary at the end was, too. This is one of those cases where I had to look up the author and see - with relief! - that yes, there will be more to com...

Re: Drabblecast 083 - Floating Over Time

DC gets serious. Obviously a good writer writing about some serious issues... but I can't say it grabbed me. Actually relistened to see if I was missing something, but it just wasn't for me, I guess. LIked what he was doing, but he didn't manage to wrap his hands in my guts and twist, which is what ...

Re: Re:

But the story of a man who goes insane with grief and murders half his family at a Christmas party is few touches too bitter for me take it as good fun. To bitter and too plausible: The narrator's plight isn't especially rare and I'm sure anyone in his position would be seriously tempted by revenge...

Eek. This one was not for me. Felt like something a clever kid would write in a college class....

Re: Drabblecast 080 - Standing in Line

Didn't love this - like everyone else, i wondered how the old folks happened to know what was coming and well - the fact is that i"m much more forgiving and tolerant towards weird/funny stories than serious ones. Just what I like, I guess. Sometimes the serious ones blow me away, but I didn't feel l...

Really enjoyed this - it was a perfect contrast to go from her thinking fondly of a house full of happy pixies dusting her food to the reality of crunching into chopped up pixie parts. Good stuff.

Re: Drabblecast 078 - Panel Discussion

Found this a bit predictable from very early on, but enjoyable nonetheless. Was relieved it wasn't ACTUALLY a panel discussion from a con, which I expected from teh title.

Re: Drabblecast 077 - Permanent Detention

I loved the intro and the story may not have wowed me in print, but I loved th production.

Every time I see the title, the "permanent detention" tune gets stuck in my head and I have to lol.

Re: Drabblecast 076 - Apologies All Around

No, the existence of this robot or it's ability to calculate the value of various apologies doesn't make any sense, but the story was touching and different and weird. Loved it.

A little slow at the beginning but a nicely different alien story.

I'm torn about it because I love it when Norm runs 10 awful puns in a row in his intro. But I'm pretty sure I shouldn't.

Re: Drabblecast 280 – Trifecta XXV

A cannibalism trifecta seems like something that just had to happen. Loved the 3rd story best - I am somewhat turned off by serious zombie stories, but I love the funny ones and this was so different from any other funny zombie story I've read. Hoping Amazon picks up Zombieland tv show (and makes it...

Re: Drabblecast 073 - All In

Classic weird fiction, as a lot of DC stories are - I think part of why I like these stories is that they rarely rely on classic monsters/tropes and try to take reality and just twist it in a new/weird way. Fun.

Seemed promising/interesting, wanted a better "ending" feeling. I think endings are the hardest part of writing, personally.

Re: Drabblecast 066 - Creatures in Disguise

Well it's like comparing the importance of being earnest to a middlish- level of snl - both make me laugh and are fun, but one is worth revisiting again and again and again and the other isn't. I enjoyed this - Prbly not going to pass it on to my grand kids in 30 years. But it was fun.

Maybe this is why the recent stories have so much less discussion happening .... You've all agreed to not disagree? *waits for assimilation*
