Re: Tapatalk support

I know that Tapatalk had some major security vulnerabilities (SQL injection and XSS). That was a couple years ago, maybe they're fixed by now? Apparently. And in that same timeframe both phpBB and php have also had security issues. Not trying to be argumentative, but this is phpBB and php we're tal...

Tapatalk support

Would it be possible to install the Tapatalk plugin for phpBB on this forum? The link to do so is here: http://www.tapatalk.com/activate_tapatalk.php?plugin=phpbb It's free - the client costs money for users. The Escape Artists forums use it if you guys share tech info. Edit: poll added. Edit 2: pol...

Re: Post your Twitfic Twabbles Here! (General Content)

A century of letters to justify this plot. The editor would read these aloud and they would know why this had been chosen. This and these refer to... too ambiguous. As for ambiguous, I know ambi means 'both', but guous is pretty darn...ambi... enigmatic. Hm, I was trying to be ambiguous. A century ...

Ginger Who

What's this? Is it my hair? So much of it. I've finally regenerated as a ginger! Wait. Why is a woman speaking my thoughts?

(sadly not this time, but hopefully someday)

Re: Drabble drabble

A Drabblecast whittling badge? I don't recalling hearing about that, but I am curious. As a kid we drove through Oregon and Washington and I got to see Crater Lake - which has a volcano in a volcano. Someone gave me Metamagical themas when I was in high school right around when I learned recursion i...

Re: Different (*spoiler* theme)

When you only have 100 words you obsess even more over the words. In the original version (which was 200 words) it ended with, "Every pregnancy is different." And that phrase appeared in the middle where Jan is saying it's not different. I like the end calling back to the beginning. But I also like ...

Drabble drabble

A drabble can only be 100 words. This was 148 words; too long. There was no way to fix it without removing Karl. He wanted his neighbour Karl in the story with his words of wisdom over the backyard fence. He'd worked the idea of the story around in his head for weeks, but it was the comment Karl mad...

Different (*spoiler* theme)

"Every pregnancy is different," Jan says reassuringly. She carried our son four years ago. She breezed through it. Mine has been more thunderstorm; less breeze. Not just the morning sickness and swollen ankles but this sense of foreboding. "Not that different," is what my wife really means. That I s...

Re: Drabblecast 282 – Liane The Wayfarer

Regarding the wrong text, sorry, that was at least partially my fault for posting it wrong in so many ways. In the future I'll try and do the editing work *before* posting. Honestly I'm confused by the twabble, Lyda - Is the goal to give the aliens fortunes to read? Just don't see why I guess.... I ...

Re: Drabblecast 282 – Liane The Wayfarer

Yeay! You liked my twabble. If I ever reach the bar again, please forgive me for pointing out I'm just "Lyda." I'm not complaining - I always view it as generosity. The inherent kindness in most people inspires them to give my name an extra letter or two. I think it's kind of sweet really and feel b...

Re: Post your Twitfic Twabbles Here! (General Content)

If there was a national online sales tax collected by the Feds and then dispersed by them to the localities that stuff was sold to, then that would be far more efficient and far easier for small businessmen selling online. It also would help small government pay for the roads and police and firefig...

Re: Post your Twitfic Twabbles Here! (General Content)

Isn't the issue small government, not big government? Up to now the US Federal government blocked small local governments from collecting sales taxes for online sales. If there was a national online sales tax collected by the Feds and then dispersed by them to the localities that stuff was sold to, ...

Re: Immortal mewsings...

#frightened-mew For some reason I woke up this morning with a picture of a vampire feeding off a kitten. I'm going to guess it had something to do with reading about trap-neuter-release (TNR) last night, but who can ever really figure out wtf is going on in our brains? Anyway, it makes for a very s...

It's not all bad. Sun is ok, mirrors work and no need for human blood. It's just... the kittens haunt me. And I need so many.

Re: I Meta Twaddle

100 char tales make a twaddle , 100 char tales. Short some chars, long some chars, those are tales which are not a twaddle ! It's twabble , not twaddle (ideally, anyway). OK, so now I have to think up a third twabble so i can finally post one up correctly on the first try. Well, third time's the ch...

I Meta Twaddle

(to the tune of 100 bottles of beer on the wall) 100 char tales make a twaddle, 100 char tales. Short some chars, long some chars, those are tales which are not a twaddle! Obviously for this to be used on the podcast it has to be sung. As an aside, I might not have gotten the meter correct. My apolo...

After years of design, coding, constructing and compute time, the power of genetic manipulation, 3d printing and big data had yielded a brand new species based on the collective imagination of mankind. Re: You want an answer?

Welcome, Lyda! And thanks for the contribution. You will probably want to repost this one under the TwitFic thread, and use the handy tool at http://twitfic.net/sizingtool/twabble_sizing_fun.htm to check the length. Ah. I see my mistake. Besides the wrong place (sorry), I sized it by doing: echo "F...
