Re: psychic manatees

I like the psychic manatee angle - just needs a cheezy pun or bizarre syllable tango of a name to seal the Mega-Beast deal. Psi'cow? Mind'atee? Nugong? Any ideas folks? Well, the order including manatees and dugongs is Sirena , collectively Sirenians; apparently some very lonely sailors thought the...

It's worse... the ad itself requires that the condition, "Congress and the president act," has not yet been satisfied; therefore, since it has not been satisfied in the past and is not in the present, if it ever is satisfied, this must happen in the future; however, the future does not exist unless ...

Crow, pig, kangaroo, octopus, raccoon, sloth. Reasoning: Crow -- Because they're one of the coolest animals that people don't think much of just cause you see them every day. Pig -- My late fiancee loved pigs to an absurd degree, and having to agree that yes, they are amazing, so long led me to at l...

A big meh , though not the downbeat connotation meh has so often taken on, but the true precisely neutral meh . This story didn't blow me away, and it didn't upset or disappoint me. It was so truly neutral that I found myself compelled to post about my absolute lack of feeling one way or another.

Go see it.

Was that intended to fit in that line from Five Man Electrical Band's Signs? Cause if so, awesome, and if not, even more awesome.

Also, may delay robot uprising (or hasten it)

Is your dog bigoted against robots? A scolding might be in order . The question, as raised in my subject, is whether this arbitrary show of disapproval will help keep the robots in their place, or if such unfair treatment will result in festering resentment and fan the naescent flames of cybernetic ...

Such a hard poll question. I ended up checking "living," because on a day-to-day basis, I feel much more of a connection with living, contemporary writers, and read their work more often. However, some of my very favorites -- both classics like Shakespeare, Dostoevsky, or Hemmingway, and more recent...

Oh, and I liked the latest, but is that ending twist not the biggest cliche ever? I was half expecting them to pan to a shot of the Statue of Liberty, with Charleton Heston screaming up at it, "You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you ALL TO HELL!"

It's entirely possible Ms Foster didn't interpret the story correctly. Maybe she needs another listen. Once the story leaves a writer's hands, the interpretation of that story leaves her or his hands as well. What is "intended" doesn't preempt the reader from developing other theories based on what...

OK, I just actually read the study , and I have to say, the creepiest part by far wasn't in any of the lay journalism I've seen so far. Here is is (emphasis is mine): "The egression usually takes about 1 hour, and the caterpillars do not respond strongly to disturbance during egression, but only 1–2...
