Re: Norm's Big News

This is great news. Congratulations Norm on landing the gig, and even bigger congratulations to Escape Pod for landing Norm!!! I originally found The Drabblecast via Escape Pod when Steve recommended we listeners check it out. I remember thinking back then how cool it was that Steve would recommend ...

Re: Drabblecast 265 - Pop Quiz

Great episode. I loved not knowing whether he was or wasn't occupied until the very end, and was actually expecting to be occupied. Great twist, great concept, bravos all around.

Re: Drabblecast 257 - Judgement Passed

Fantastic story - one of my absolute favorites on The Drabblecast. What a great premise and I loved how every time I thought the story was going to end it kept going with more substance and smart twists. The only part I didn't like was the confrontation with the wrench upside the head. I expected th...

Well, maybe not my wildest...

Re: Drabblecast 247 - How I Crippled a World for Just 0.01 C

is it me, or has Drabblecast been absolutely KILLING it with quirk lately? super fun story, very breezy. the questions about how humanity progresses with these copyright fees did occur to me, but i quoted the MST3K motto, went with the conceit, and found the show tremendously entertaining. good one...

Re: Drabblecast 243 – The Other Lila

Another great episode - I loved the Drabble and the story as well. It's easy for all of us who read and listen to Science Fiction to say "oh that's a tired trope" about this story and that story but I think the reality is that if any of us was unexpectedly Doppelgangered we'll likely be stunned and ...

Re: Drabblecast 242 - Transfer of Ownership

I really liked this story, in part because it turned so dark. I was expecting the suit to somehow bring the guy to justice by walking him to a prison and then showing footage of what he did. I definitely didn't see the hard reset coming. I guess this exoskeleton wasn't programmed to obey Asimov's th...

Re: Drabblecast 241 - The Dead

I don't generally like zombie stories but this one worked for me. Lots to think about. Good for him for resisting the zombie temptress. I loved the song "All you zombies" and ran to iTunes to buy it. Ditto Ugly Face. Great lyrics and music on both. Here's Ugly Face: http://www.lyricstime.com/nina-na...

Re: Drabblecast 238 - From The Lost Diary Of TreeFrog7

Love the narrator but have to give the story a big meh for discordance. At first I thought they were robots, not people. Then I thought just the husband was. It seemed especially odd that they were concurrently primitive while knowing what a cursor is. And their "storage device" was compatible with ...

Re: Drabblecast 232 – Valentine’s Day With The Gods

I didn't love this one, in part because I either missed or didn't get who the couple was and how they were outside space and time to be at a conference for gods. Maybe they were god trainees? The flute line was great as was the seated alphabetically crack. Norm's outro was funny (to me) because if y...

Re: Drabblecast 234 – Jagannath

I loved this one too but felt just a bit cheated/mislead because the descriptions were so completely human and the mother seemed to be a machine/animal hybrid. I would have preferred to learn at the end that it was stomach bacteria and then go back and listen for clues that I missed the first time.

Re: Drabblecast 229 - Singularity Knocks

I usually like stories about the Singularity but the plot in this one didn't make much sense to me unless the farmers were really already in the Singularity, which wasn't explored all that satisfyingly. A few things seemed particularly far fetched: -The entire world has been uploaded except these tw...

Re: Drabblecast 225 - Trifecta XIX

That Trifecta was lip-smacking good. I can only imagine how much trauma would result from allowing a real six-year-old to listen to "David is Six." The narration on that one was gorgeous as well and I thought it was the best of the three. "Broken" didn't do as much for me because I didn't sense much...

Re: Drabblecast 220 - Trifecta XVIII

I started out in agreement but, as if conjured up by a devil's advocate perched on my shoulder, a memory of a story called "Socks" arose and knocked me clear off the opinion. I mean, unless you think it remotely possible that a sock in a dryer might sacrifice its life for its mate. But maybe it's j...

Re: Drabblecast 220 - Trifecta XVIII

I really liked the Tags story. Had you run it 15 years ago it would have seemed like completely nutso science fiction. And now it is quite nearly reality. Technology really sneaks up on us sometimes. And I loved the ending of the Nun story. It is sadly all too rare these days for nuns to go rogue. A...

Re: Drabblecast 219 - The Big Splash

So, here's the deal. Pretty much anything that gets advertised on the Drabblecast I'm going to buy. Kinda just on principle, to support my favorite peeps and all the crazy strange goodness they bring to life. But also because everything that Norm promos turns out to be worth it. So far. (No Snuggies...
