Re: Drabblecast 159- Intelligent Design by Ellen Klages
I'm really surprised to see the extent of discussion on this story. I thought it was cute, but not much more.

Re: Raise the Dead
I keep on hearing Tom Lehrer singing, "I hold your hand in mine, dear. I press it to my lips..."

Re: On a Stormy Night
Good catch ROU. "in his hand" of course. I could drop the "Do" in "Do you see?" and still keep the word count. This grew out of an offhand remark I made to my wife this weekend, delivering the final line of the story but in a serious way. After I said it, though, I mused aloud "Doesn't that sound li...

On a Stormy Night
A sodden form slipped in, swiftly closing the door to the howling storm. “Did you get it?” asked the gaunt man in the white coat. The smaller man nodded, extending an item his hand. The other took it, eyes gleaming in approval. He strode to the table and laid the silk necktie upon the shirt, along w...

Yea, Though I Walk
The congregation intoned the ancient words: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me…” When they had finished, the preacher stared at them intently. “Do you truly have that faith?” he asked. “In the darkest of times, will you know in yo...

Re: Unattended
I liked the second half, but the first half seemed oddly disconnected, irrelevant to the end. The words could have been better invested for more of a build to the denouement.

Re: The Choice
I see this at least as much of a take on a "premature coming of age" story as a "third choice" story. C'mon, if you were a 16-year old with such power, which would you choose?

The Choice
Only sixteen, he was already more powerful than any other wizard alive, certainly more than either the light or the dark mage before him. He stood, fist clenched, full of magic. "You must choose," intoned the light mage gravely. "They will cage you", sneered the dark. "He would poison your very soul...

Parting Gift
Was it was possible for a robot to sound petulant? “I don’t want you to go.” “Gotta. Launch window’s closing. If I’m not off planet in 10 minutes, I’m staying here. Forever.” “Take me with you.” “I can’t. Not enough fuel. You knew that from the beginning.” “I knew that. From the beginning.” This was...
Re: Success!
That explains the feeling of deja vu I had as I was writing it! But seriously, folks... As I'm very new to writing drabbles (this is #2 for me), and in fact have not done a lot of creative writing at all, I'll consider "well done example" sufficient praise. I'm finding it a fun challenge just to cr...
Success!
Ten. This was it. The moment he'd been waiting for, working for. Nine. The seconds counted down. Eight. The culmination of years of research Seven. punctuated by mockery. Six. But he had done it at last, Five. invented a time machine. Four. Soon, he would have proof, Three. proof not only that it wa...

Invasion
Anger seethed as he inched forward in line. He hated being here, but he needed badly what the creature up there offered. Everything had gone to shit since the aliens had arrived. They were everywhere now, living in our neighborhoods, going to our schools, taking our jobs. He thought of his gun back ...
