Re: Drabblecast 181- Funeral Song for a Ventriloquist

I guess I get to be the lone dissenter this time. In the end, this story didn't do it for me. It had a lot of cool things going for it, especially the heap of dummies, and the statement that a ventriloquist's job is to keep the dummies from speaking, and the ventriloquist reborn as a dummy. But: -I ...

Re: Drabblecast 132- Doubleheader IV: from Bruce Holland Rog

Before this episode I had not realized that Bruce Holland Rogers is awesome, and exemplary of the weirdness valued round the Drabblecast. Above most other story traits, I think I value weirdness and original ideas the most, (hence why Drabblecast is one of my favorite fiction sources) and these stor...

Re: Drabblecast 179- The Red Bride by Samantha Henderson

I had trouble getting into this one. Partially the narrative style, as Etaan said, it's addressed to a child in a world I'm unfamiliar with, which isn't all that relatable to me. Also, the narrator-character kept telling me that what she was telling me was not exactly true, and each time she did so ...

Re: DC 170 & 171- Mongoose by Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Be

Hi Maplesugar, good to see you and your delicious candy avatar over here. :) Anyhoo, This story was awesome! My favorite Drabblecast to date. It used Carroll and Lovecraft to the best possible degree, giving nods to each, but not being a slave to their material. Mongoose was a great character, and I...

Re: Drabblecast 183- Angel of the Ordinary by Tim Pratt

Actually, I haven't gotten around to the B-Sides yet. I'm not sure why, really! So I guess I haven't listened to all of Drabblecast, but all of the Drabblecast A-Sides. :P

Re: Drabblecast 183- Angel of the Ordinary by Tim Pratt

On the subject of weird recipes, one of my entries for the 2010 Podcastle Flash Contest centered around weird foods and their effect on the afterlife, though it went in a very different direction than this one: http://forum.escapeartists.net/index.php?topic=3509.msg63598#msg63598" onclick="window.op...

Re: Drabblecast 183- Angel of the Ordinary by Tim Pratt

Hello all! Yeah, I found the back entrance out of the Escape Artists dungeons and wandered over here. I'd better write some comments before the men in white coats come for me! Is commenting on lots of old story threads acceptable here? I've listened to the Drabblecast backlog and I want to retroacti...

Competitor succumbs in sauna competition

Apparently there is such a thing as a "sauna competition" and apparently somebody died while competing in one! I can just foresee a "Rocky" style series of movies based on this. http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/europe/08/08/finland.sauna.championships/index.html?hpt=T2" onclick="window.open(this.href);...

Re: The Best of The Drabblecast

Argh!! I formed a reply with a list of my top ten, and then lost it. For now I will just repeat my top three. I definately agree with you on the Levine stories, Babel Probe and Charlie the Purple Giraffe was Acting Strange. I would also add Apologies All Around by Jeff Soesbe in my top 3. More to c...

The Best of The Drabblecast

I've really enjoyed listening to Drabblecast's story archives. Now that I've listened to them all, I've written up a Best of Drabblecast list. Agree with the stories on the list? Disagree? Well, make your own list then. :D http://www.diabolicalplots.com/?cat=350" onclick="window.open(this.href);retu...

No worries, I think this is a re-post anyways, am I right? Thought I remember seeing this in Drabblenews already. Still worth it, because GOBS is Stalin's Wicker Man vid hilarious. Nobody with a soul can refrain from laughing when the bear costume decks that chick. I don't think I've heard it on th...

Re: Drabblecast 167- Snowman's Chance in Hell by Robert Jeschone

I'll comment on the story later, but the Drabble News compelled me to log on and put up a link to Green Porno, a series of short films in which Isabella Rosalini explains sexual behaviors of a variety of a variety of animals, doing so by dressing up as them and acting out scenes. There's one on duck...

Oops, sorry about the lack of link. I think I have a very focused mental disorder which has the lone effect of causing me to never ever remember to include links or attachments in the original message. And I'm not real active over here yet, though I've been listening to Drabblecast pretty much aroun...

Bee Accident

Local news story here in Minnesota, major car accident breaks open a trailer full of bees, releasing some 4 million bees into the surrounding area. There were fatalities, unfortunately, but the idea of all those bees swarming and attacking everything in the accident aftermath is scary as hell.
