Re: Drabble: "Entrapment"

Thanks, Strawman! I am perpetually amused by this statistic: 80 to 90% of U.S. drivers (and around 70-80% of European drivers) consistently in numerous different polls believe themselves to be "above average" drivers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illusory_superiority#Driving_ability I always wonder,...

Re: Death, Remembered

I was perusing Strawman's old posts when I saw an earlier quote from him on some other topic: "The Universe is God's evil twin". I liked the conceit, and then I plugged the comment back into this poem here... Someday when the Universe collapses or gets sucked into a mega black hole... God will be si...

Drabble: "Entrapment"

The driver ahead and to my right swerves briefly into my lane. When the Botts’ dots rumble startles him, he looks up from some object he held on the steering wheel or in his lap. Texting. He then over-reacts, tires squeaking and jolting from side to side. I’m so sick of people doing this. And then w...

Re: Drabble: "The Only Good Indian Is"

Yeah it would take some subtlety, and I'm the first to admit, I'm still working on mastering that subtlety thang... Hence I'm happy if somebody wants to steal the idea and run with it. I would envision something along the lines of some old radio shows like "The Whistler" or some of the episodes of "...

Re: We Were Conquistadors

Re: Pop culture reference in the title, the decay of the once- [from the average European's point of view] holy and noble mission to colonize and baptize the New World, down into the realities of senseless war, corruption and greed, may perhaps be the European flip-side of the sullying of Native cul...

Re: Drabble: "The Only Good Indian Is"

Thanks for "getting" the story, y'all!! You're exactly right, with the concept. [Steal away, Scattercat!! Maybe we can get a series going!!] I conceived of this drabble months and months ago, never had time to write it up, long before the movies came out. But IMHO, watching two hours of an unstoppab...

Re: Here There Everywhere

...reminds me, I also have a drabble concept revolving around a Wolf in the city, which is a bit similar but IMHO notably different. Based on an old saying a friend of mine has used for years. My treatment will be different from yours. But look for it, based on this drabble I bet you'll enjoy it.

Re: The Secret Ingredient (The Apprentice Theme)

Perusing your latest posts, this was dang funny because I actually have a batch of mead fermenting right now. Gonna take at least five or six months to be ready, after a full day of singeing my face over a hot burner, boiled-over honey making a sticky mess, fighting off [regular-sized] bees, etc. et...

Re: Here There Everywhere

Yeah, when somebody comments on one of _my_ drabbles, I look around for something I can compliment on one of his/hers. I actually really like this one (and I've read a bunch of your Mirrorshards, I just haven't had time to comment or hang around the forums in a long while). I've always liked stories...

Re: We Were Conquistadors

...aaaaand at the top of the Drabble list, I just posted my own Drabble with a Southwest cowboy/Native American theme... I swear, I've been sitting on those two Drabbles, thinking I should write them up, for at least three months before I checked into the forum and started reading your stuff! :) Sti...

Drabble: "The Only Good Indian Is"

The putrid corpse hefted Miss Daisy away from the flaming barn, setting her gently on the desert plain, next to the preacher. A few embers still smoked among its charred headdress feathers. Hollow eye sockets passed over both their faces. Then, seemingly satisfied, it shambled off. "That the same on...

Re: We Were Conquistadors

As for "A single ball kills one," I heard a quote attributed to Tenskwatawa in a song, "A tomahawk holds a hundred deaths, a musket holds but one".

Re: We Were Conquistadors

Thanks Flintknapper! Yes, I've been perusing the forums after a long absence and I see that this type of thing is your bailiwick. I've read a half-dozen of yours and this is the one I like best so far (second favorite might be Deer Dance). Funny enough, although I live in California, my mom lives in...

I like this one! Evocative. Does a good job of defining a character. And the Aztec stuff is always a favorite topic of mine... ( http://www.drabblecast.org/forums/viewt ... =10&t=2694 )

Drabble: [NAGGERS Theme] - "Critical"

"Lock down the graviton generator!" Dr. Friedrichsen shouted over CERN laboratory’s alarms: "Locked! I told you we should've used Linux." "Noted!" snapped Dr. Torgerson. "Now bleed the positron bank." "Singularity is still growing! This could all have been avoided --" "I don't want the human race’s ...

Re: Trackback! I plugged the Drabblecast on the "Extra Envi

But what about those of us who are working hard to produce a dystopian future for our children? That's cool, it's the journey that matters, not the goal! 8) I'd say dystopia is in the eye of the beholder. Besides which, even in the event I'm successful at preventing the collapse of everything we kn...

Trackback! I plugged the Drabblecast on the "Extra Environm

Just reporting back here as ordered, Commander!! [snappy salute] Another podcast I like, called "The Extra-Environmentalist", accepts voicemail Letters to the Editor via Skype. I left them a long voicemail with my favorite fiction sources, and of course the Drabblecast was prominent among them. (I a...

She never did say what kind of temple.
Yeah, I've had dates like that. We all have. Temple to the Eldar Gods, I think. Nice one!! Nice to see you Betadog, it's been awhile!
