Re: A Ceaseless Mechanical Hum

Interestingly different. I wrote several times in the Escape Pod flash contest that I like it when an author takes on a Big Idea with a small story. Therefore, I find the fact that we have no idea who is talking to whom -- God? But which God? An alien geneticist? An AI programmer? -- to be intriguin...

Re: Frozen Time

Very nice narrative! Would make a great opening for a longer story. Superb descriptions. As a Drabble, it kinda disappoints me that I won't be reading any more. On the other hand, I just now listened to Drabblecast 173, I think it was, one of the Trifectas, where one of the three stories was actuall...

Ha! Did Plague get traded? Will Plague be on the starting lineup of the San Diego Chargers next season, or does he have to start with an expansion team first?

Re: As Fast As I Can!

I keep coming back to this one, trying to think how to critique it... I think it gets a lot of hits because there's an attachment, so people (like me) wonder why do you need an attachment in order to tell a drabble. On the one hand, the illustration really solidified the character which had not actu...

Nicely done. Magic Lanterns and mirrors which reveal more than they're supposed to... a fantasy staple that accomplishes much in few words.

Another Holiday Themed Drabble

"Racism," griped Puck, for the umpteenth time. Their dapper red, brown, and green felt clothing looked inadequate against the snow, but that was not the source of the three wizened men's bitterness. "They just don't bother spelling it out. Nobody older than 300 could possibly even HAVE a Social Secu...

Since Taku is in it, perhaps this should be added to the "Wisest Stone" thread?

One Treadmill for Another

Here's a pleasant little Holiday-themed Drabble dedicated to those of us who will be jogging off an extra slice of Thanksgiving pie this weekend and then sitting down at our desk jobs on Monday... ===== ONE TREADMILL FOR ANOTHER ===== The drug unlocked stubborn fat cells and supercharged the convers...

Re: twas wolf he cried

Nicely twisted interpretation! Y'know, that really makes a nice addition to the drabble. The two of you (zcarter80 and Loof) might consider working that into a longer story (to include the scene in the drabble). Re-interpreted fairy tales are a fairly popular sub-market these days. I liked that cree...

Re: By the Time I Got to Work...

I'd like to think I have enough of the fundamental Drabble nature to recover from the constraining injury, with time! The experience of believing yourself a murderer of something cute and fuzzy, through no intent of your own, I think is fairly consistent with the Drabbleverse, and possibly close to ...

Re: The Various Adventures of the Wisest Stone

I caught one of these on your site. Worthy modern koans, in my opinion -- a little bit irreverent, because we're Westerners, and that's how we are. A couple of them aren't quite as cool as the others -- but on the whole they're very high quality and I look forward to reading more. The stone has a ve...

Re: twas wolf he cried

Seems like a lot of postings get 0 to 1 replies. Don't take it personally, I guess (speaking as a newby who has only posted one Drabble). I do what I can to let authors know somebody is reading them, but even I skip back and forth a lot.
