Overlord always goes on like this when all he really has to do is slap down a dossier with “This Guy Needs His Ass Handed to Him” stamped on the cover. I'm just cutting to the chase.

Turning groomporter's Drabblenews into a musical was simultaneously unexpected and the best thing since MDW. I kept expecting the music to run out, but by the time the episode ended, I was pretty well convinced Norm could have totally done a 90 minute musical on the subject. Abso-frakking-lutely best non-story content in possibly forever. :D

I saw the story go up last night, but wanted to save it for when I was awake enough to appreciate it ... so I was a little surprised when I got a message from ROU first thing today saying congrats on the DC mention. Really awesome hearing Swamp's reading of Scattercat's story on the Drabblecast. :o

I've only listened to the main story content once since it's a Saturday and the "three in a row" listen is usually saved for weekdays, so I'm not sure I feel up to commenting on the main story just yet.

I will say, though, that I loved it. It may not knock Going to the Chapel or What Fluffy Knew off the contenders for best story of 2010 so far, but it's a damned fine story. I felt a good deal of sympathy for the devil, so to speak. I hope Dr. Diablo, his cousin Carlos, and Planhatcher find their happily-ever-after.

I too have to second the applause for the Drabblenews segment. It was the best thing on Drabblecast since Connor Choadsworth. Pleasurable envy at how freaking creative Norm is, and once again I must observe that he's upstaging the main event with his flagrant talent.

I have to give the main story a listen again. I was too busy picking myself up off the floor and wiping the tears of laughter from my eyes to give it the full appreciation it doubtless deserves.

Oh yes, and very cool cover artwork.

Fantastic main story. It would have fallen short if the whole prison plan had been left out. That was what made the story, and made the story Drabblecast material.

Was that Monika singing the exit song? Whoever it was, fantastic job!

I get the feeling every so often Norm gets hit with a little stroke of genius, and runs with it. He's now shown us that he can write a satirical broadway play. Wow.

So when are you going to give Clowns and Bunnies a shout-out?

I paid Tom to ask that.

The funds should be in your PayPal account, bud...

 The next Dribblecast episode I do will have a bit of pimping for Clowns & Bunnies. Not sure if I'm doing Monthly Routine or PingPing Saves The World next (both will be done!). I thought Strawman said "Obama" when really he said "Omaba," so now I don't have the worry of trying to fake Barack Obama's voice or accent without upsetting anyone.

Any anagrammatic similarity in the characters names is purely coincidental, I'm sure. ;-)

I don't remember if I'm allowed to curse in posts here, so.

Holy freaking smokes! The opening Drabblecast News bit was AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. I'll confess, I usually dislike Norm's singing (I'm really sorry, but I'm a vocal performance major and your way of singing just gets on my nerves, even though your lyrics and style are very good and funny), but I loved this bit. It was hilarious and I literally was almost losing it the entire time. Little Coat Of Stem Cells would be a... fascinating musical. Now, the question I have to ask is, what would the ending be? Would it be the REAL version (the stage show ending?) or the TERRIBLE one from the movie?

...Okay, now that I've gotten that out, I'm going to go listen to the rest of the episode.

Wow, Simon Cowell is a drabblecast listener, how cool is that?

I dunno, I'd trade my left testicle for Norm's voice, personally. But, to each his own.

Drabblecasts that feature Bbardles top my list of favorite episodes.

I'm still hoping we can talk Norm into auditioning for American Idol with "Everybody's got Nipples."

I'm tellin ya, it'd be bigger than "Pants on the ground."

Rou, "to each his own" was probably originally coined with reference to left testicles.
Plus, acccording to CD Baby bio, Norm already has three:
It was somewhere between 11th and 12th grade when Norm realized for the first time that he had three testicles. He wrote a song about his third nut to score chicks and establish superiority over his dull bi-gonadic male peers.

Hilarious song. As soon as I realized it was a Little Shop parody I grinned ear to ear. (love that musical).

RE: the story - enjoyed the skewering of the Evil Overlord archetype. Poor Dr. Diablo, getting screwed over because his boss does something dumbass. Again.

That was fantastic! Especially the musical! Was that Monika? Good job, Monika! More musical DC, please!

Amongst everything else, it referenced a really early DC story. I can't remember the name, but it was about a deadly suit. I'm pretty sure it was an intentional reference.

Nah, not Monika, friend of mine named Sheena (I put her in show notes but she doesn't have a website.)

Oh God. I pity the poor writers for this 'cast. I'm having trouble remembering anything between the intro drabble news and the outro bbardle. Sheena Rocks! If only for singing SUDDENLY STEM CELLS perfectly and with a straight face (I'd'a heard it if she cracked a smile). YOu guys are amazing!

Ya, she did it in two takes too. Even having wrote the words I screwed her up by laughing when she sang "hit my head on a bookshelf..."

Haven't had the time/inclination to keep up with forums lately, but had to come back for this episode. Dr. Diable Goes Through the Motions was one of the best literary deconstructions of the whole supervillain trope I've come across, on par with, if not maybe slightly better than, the wonderful Soon I Will Be Invincible. (Haven't read it yet? You should.) The race/social class issues were handled perfectly; the writer expertly skirted the risk of slipping into heavy-handed or didactic, but did so without pulling any punches. The rant about the white kid martial arts master was fantastic and quite on-the-mark.

And yes, the LSoH pastiche was great.
