Reely enjoyed this one, anyone else trying to figure out what she'd end up called? At first I thought nature tragedy and finally rage until she realised that her brother had took white face and figured it out

It also reminded me of a comic series" sandman" quite a lot and in all the best ways

I really enjoyed this one overall, with each of the family members being an embodiment of some trait.

But the burning of Whiteface was a bit too much for me. Probably made even more so that at the time I was listening I was driving to the vet to pick up the cremated remains of my recently deceased dog Aria. Really bad timing to listen to that part. I probably won't listen to it again for that reason, and I'd probably be reluctant to recommend it to others. But I think it was good, just too much for me right now.

This story reminded me of classic story telling and classic fables. We see a kind of origin and self-discovery myth with harsh (but sadly all too common) conflict.

Except that the bad guy gets a measure of justice in the end, and the hero(ine) completes her self-discovery. It's nice to have a solid L.O.C.K. plot when so much "modern" fiction is post-modern, post-rationalistic, and post coherent/decent values.

Little Grace's vengeance against Harm was inspiring and redeemed the story just when I thought it was going to be another "Life sucks" tale. I can easily see myself doing much the same if someone harmed my pet or my child.

This story belongs in with Aesop's or The Brothers Grimm's works. I will be reading or playing it for as many kids as I can get away with.

ASiD (how do you abbreviate that, by the way?) is right, it chimes with Sandman (as Jason already said), and the Loki myth, and Preatchett's Discworld, Aesop, the Bible and probably about a thousand other sources. This is the thing about moral/fairy tales, they work best when they are instantly familiar but also distinct and strange.

I may be revealing myself as some kind of sociapath here as well but by the time I got to the end I was through depressing and into catharsis and vindication. It's what Vengeance is all about, right? And as for Harm, well, surely he's got to have got at least a little satisfaction from his fate...?

This story made me feel for real the way people pretend to feel in those peppermint patty commercials.

Hew, those actors were probably on enough coke (I only remember the old commercials) that they actually *did* feel that way. It's called "Method" acting; where "Method" is short for "Methadone". :P

Anywho, welcome aboard, Scumpup!
