Drabblecast 139 - Let Us Now Praise Awesome Dinosaurs
Let Us Now Praise Awesome Dinosaurs
by Leonard Richardson
"I want to buy a gun," said the Thymomenoraptor. He moved his foreclaw along the glass case of pistols, counting them off: one, two, three, four. "That one." He tapped the case; the glass squeaked.
"Why would a dinosaur need a gun?" asked the shop owner.
"Self-defense...."

Wow, the episode artwork being produced the past few months has been outstanding. I really would like to see these images made available on a T-Shirt, oversized java mug, and or thong.

No hiatus, just incredibly distracted.
Way to go Liz. You’re a Twit-Fic goddess.
Wildly funny story. Creative, intelligent, clever, and well produced. Goodspeed, Rish, Big, well done. Big’s brood, very well done. Norm, you were okay too.
…and now after checking out the pics of Cala Sith, I want to go to Scotland. Hey, DC get together in the highlands. Isn’t that Jedi Church in the UK somewhere? Coincidence? I think not.

What he said. -10 points for no drabble (what, no dino-drabble submissions?) +1000 for the full production story.Kevin Anderson wrote:No hiatus, just incredibly distracted.

This episode was just a whole lotta fun. If Stranger Things is the new Twilight Zone, episodes like this are the new Mercury Theatre and Norm is the new Orson Welles. Can't wait til you start hawking bad-wine in your old age. For the worlds sake, avoid a redux of "War of the Worlds" That could be the end...

I liked this one. It bounces off the wall, hits another wall and then bounces off that one too.

Early pick for story of the year. We must now praise awesome podcasts.
Re: Drabblecast 139- Let Us Now Praise Awesome Dinosaurs
I just love dinosaurs sooo much.
I love drawing them, writing about them, sculpting them, hearing stories about them...
And Tomorrow, on Thanksgiving, I like eating them.

Wow, that was so much fun! I liked the fact that it was funny on multiple levels. I laughed at the absurdity of the idea (as per usual Drabblecast), but I also laughed at some of the dialogue and situational humor - stuff that takes a little more work than an absurd idea. High fives to Big, Rish, and Brood. You guys rocked.

Speaking of which, I still wanna know what happens with the Awesomeman saga. Damn Kevin Colligan and his warped priorities. Putting workd and food before giving us the ending to the story...StalinSays wrote:Early pick for story of the year. We must now praise awesome podcasts.

That was extremely funny and extremely well-done.
Another great episode. With two of my favorite podcasts combined. Thanks!

Technically speaking, we do know Who Killed Awesome Man: it was Kip. So story is over, right? Kidding. I could do with some resolution, but it's their blood/sweat, not mine, so here's waiting.ROU Killing Time wrote:Speaking of which, I still wanna know what happens with the Awesomeman saga.

I had a little sweat invested in Awesomeman too. Hmph. Was good story, also wish they'd pick it back up.

Still it is my understanding that Kevin is getting his ass handed to him daily on a new job, and I can't fault a guy for wanting to eat. (Also, it'd be kinda hypocritical, considering the sporadic on-again off-again nature of my own small endeavours...)
Would that I had a "be-funny-now" switch I could flip on a weekly basis and churn out top-line material week after week. I hate you Norm... No wait, that's not right, I'm jealous of you Norm, no, no, that's not right either... I love ya Norm, and all ya do week after week... Ya, that's what I was after.
Still, I must say, when you guys that are big into genre podcasting get together and engage in cross-creativity, as you did in this weeks DC, the results are wonderful indeed.

Re: Drabblecast 139- Let Us Now Praise Awesome Dinosaurs
I expect to be and remain in the (extreme) minority, but I didn't really like this one. It had all sorts of interesting and funny stuff in it, but none of the stuff fit together in any logical way. It wasn't a story. It was a bunch of stuff that happened. The dinosaur wants a gun, then we find out the dinosaurs are motocross stars, then there's the fiasco with the monster monster truck, then they get kidnapped, etc. Each bit stands completely on its own and none of the bits logically depend on what came before or lead logically into what comes after. (I think that criticism is illustrated by the story's title.)
So, while it definitely pulled out some chuckles, I couldn't really get into it, because I didn't really feel like there was anything into which to get.
The production, as has been noted, was good even by Drabblecast standards.
