Checklist for greatness
Dinosaurs - Check
Xtreme sports (has to be spelled with an X or it is not Xtreme enough) - Check
Mars - Check
Social commentary about 5 day waiting periods - Check

I've been really busy and just got around to listening to this episode yesterday at work. This was a very unusual piece. Weird, but funny. I've never considered that the only thing really missing from Monster Truck shows is Dino Motorcross. That's so freaking cool. I didn't quite understand the beginning, though, why the dino wanted a gun. Unless, it's like when he killed and ate the dino-fight/film maker guy it was just so he could "carn out" human style. All the different voice talents made this show for me. Especially, J.B. Goodspeed's announcer guy. Very good. Two killing-claws up.

He wanted a gun because he had seen so many in TV and movies. The dinos were very teenager-like in many aspects.

Just gave it another listen. I missed that Bruce Willis (et al.) bit the first time around. Makes more sense now. I wondered why the dinos sounded kind of emo-ish.

So this is floating around the interwebs this week. I found it quasi-relevant :p

See what happens if you let dinos come to earth and drive cars? They become extremists.

I'm with Mr. Tweedy on this one, it just didn't do much for me.

I think the main reason I didn't like it is that it did feel like the author was going down a checklist trying to come up with a cool idea and in the end it felt like a checklist of cool ideas, but not an amazing story. Clearly I'm in the minority on this one. It went through the lines of the checklist, and I could note each one as it went by, but listing things that are generally seen as cool does not make that list itself cool (to me).

More than the story, I dislike the title. Rather than making sense in the context of the story, it just says "The story's got dinosaurs and therefore is awesome". Which to me was just reinforced the checklist idea.

Gotta completely disagree with you on this one. The title is one of the things that make this story so completely wonderful in every way. In case, you know, it wasn't patently obvious I was completely enamored of this story :P

Yes, a bunch of awesome things were thrown together, but in a way I'd never seen before, and for an amusing, over the top storyline. All those things combined, for me, spells Awesome and Win.

I wouldn't want it titled any other way. :)

Yeah, I know I'm in the extreme minority on this one. I'm glad lots of people liked it, it shan't be left wanting for fans.

While I'm adding fuel to the fire, I have not seen Avatar and have no desire to see it!

I haven't seen it yet, either. Not that I actively don't want to, but I just haven't.

Dude, do NOT watch Avatar. Either of them. The blue-people movie is hideously cliched and dull, and the live-action version of The Last Airbender is just a brutal and painful deconstruction (destruction) of a really nifty show.

Well, I had previously read "Call me Joe", which I thought was pretty good. Are you implying that Avatar would ruin that one for me also?

Yes. Yes it would. It ruins everything, including hope, love, and the taste of marshmallows in hot chocolate.

Hmm.. I never really liked marshmallows in hot chocolate. Is there any chance that watching Avatar could get me to like said foodstuff?
