Victory

Post by munsi » Mon Mar 01, 2010 10:22 pm

A group of people I’d never met excelled at a sport that I ‘d never played, and my heart swelled with nationalistic pride.

Oh, to be sure, the group of people I’d also never met who happened to’ve been born across a border from me played well, but they couldn’t beat the team who, although not one of them so much as knew my name, represented me.

Outside the streets exploded in celebration, as across the nation people who’d contributed nothing to the victory each in turn took personal vindication from the outcome of the sporting match.

“Gold!” they howled.

It's good to expand your horizons. Versatility for the win.

As for the hockey game, like I said before, I qualify for dual-citizenship so I can glory in the Gold and be utterly depressed with the silver, simultaneously.

I guess I'm schizo-nationalistic too.

ROU, I would have been puzzled if you had NOT had dual citizenship. It just wouldn't add up.
During the game I imagined you yelling, "USC! USC!"

I just haven't decided if I should have the US invade Canada or vice versa.

My perspective did let me say with a somewhat straight face, however, "gosh what a great game played by both sides."

I can imagine the network executives cheered the most when at 28 seconds it went into overtime.

Advertising revenue, ya baby... ka-ching.

We can each invade at the same time and just switch places.

Drabble is true, but pretty heavy-handed. It would be better if it felt less like a spanking.

No way, the Trojans are totally over-rated... ;-)

USC, stands for University of Spoiled Children, doesn't it?

Go Beavers, or Ducks, or anyone but USC for that matter...

(btw, I didn't miss the United States of Canada joke...)
