Within an Egg in a Duck in a Box Under a Tree

Post by Scattercat » Sat Apr 30, 2011 2:31 pm

It is a hard thing, and yet not so hard as you might think. Getting it out was easy; men are forever losing their souls by accident. But to cut it and fold it, bend it and break it, and fit it into a needle, well...

I remember that I did it, but I don't remember why. I wonder sometimes if I was always like this, porcupined, needle-souled; sharp, thin, cold and, if I'm being honest, a bit of a prick. Did I shape it to fit in the needle, or was a needle the only place it would fit?

Um, no, I don't get it. Either I'm being dense or this story needed more words for the telling.

Yea, over my head too. I get it post clarification, but by then it's too late.
Sorry Scattercat, you need to hang around more educated people.

Ha! Bit of a prick. I get it! Hey guys, it's ok, you can come out—it's a penis joke!

You know, it's times like these I'm glad I have a masters' degree in Slavic folklore from Harvard University!*

It's not like he's *that* obscure, y'all. If it were American folklore, he'd be a Paul Bunyan, not a Joe Magarac.

On the other hand, I freely admit that I grew up with a dozen books of folktales from around the world that I read all the time (and pondered why the stupid and kind of jerky people got to have all the luck.) Read through Grimm and Andersen, plus thinner books from Russia, China, Japan, etc. My favorite was "Young Mr. Hu," which is a Chinese story about being nice to your ancestors. :-)

Q: What's the difference between and egg in a duck in a box under a tree, and a BMW?

A: None. Both have a prick inside.

The man's been sucking on clown shoe brandy.

As for me, I'm going to get a bottle of regular brandy and design a Clown Shoe Brandy label for it. Too bad Tweedy's got his hands so full. He used to be the man for a project like this.
