Doug’s phone chirped the arrival of a text from his editor. Shit! He forgot to mail her the manuscript!
The text read, “received the script. Thanks.”
With a loud crack, the door burst open. A man in sharp, black suit flicked a cigarette into the shrubs and stepped inside.
The man seized Doug’s arm and held a hammer over his fingers.
“I am from Time Mail. It seems you did not pay us for services rendered. If you ever want to write again, Dougie, I need two things from you: the manuscript that we will mail yesterday and the payment.”
