Drabble Prompts for Upcoming Shows!
Hey folks,
This section is an attempt to give you Drabblers a vague idea of upcoming story themes so you can craft your 100 word stories with an idea or subject in mind. We try to regularly read all the Drabbles posted in our forums but Drabbles with a theme category listed up by the title really grab our attention!
Good Drabbles that fit into one of these categories are often more likely to be picked for the show.
Please mention the theme category that your Drabble hits on in the Subject line of your post.
Thanks and Happy Drabbling!
For APRIL 2016:
Category: It's a Dog's Life - Nothing ever goes your way, and then you die. Sucks to be you.
Category: Non-Zombie Apocalypse - Sure, sure, hordes of mindless slavering invaders, but what flavor?
Category: Pet Funerals - We love 'em, but the little guys always break our hearts when they leave too soon.
Category: Myths and Legends - They tell us where we from, and maybe where we're going.
For MAY 2016:
Category: Single Parents - Everyone knows you always need a backup. But what if you can't get one?
Category: Glad Max - Who says the post-apocalyptic irradiated desert wasteland can't be a little fun?
Category: Losses and Sacrifices - The things we give up, and the things we get in return. (Protip: always shop around for the best deal for your soul; buyer's remorse is a bastard.)
Category: ????
For JUNE 2016:
Category: Road Trip! - Where we goin'? What're we doin' when we get there? Can we stop for ice cream?
Category: Summer Reading - There's nothing like getting lost in a good book.
Category: Road Trip Back Home - Well, that sucked, and now also we need showers and hate each other. At least it was cheaper than a cruise.
Category: Communication Skills - Sometimes people really just need to say what they mean and not do all this hinting and stuff.

Re: Write a Themed Drabble!
You can also send them directly to the submissions address. Please be sure to label it a drabble in the subject header if you do, and if you wrote it (or dug it up) for one of the categories, don't be afraid to mention that in the e-mail. That way I can think about them in context of the specific stories they'd be running beside rather than in isolation.

How about a month for H.P. Lovecraft based themes?

I know that but I didn't see a call for H.P. Lovecraft drabbles. Did I just miss it?

Re: Write a Themed Drabble!
You haven't missed it yet. The call only covered up to April, and Lovecraft month isn't until August. So we have 6 months to brush up on our convoluted R'lyehn syntax. It's going to be tough. Lovecraft never did anything in 100 words.
Never judge anyone until you have biopsied their brain.

Re: Write a Themed Drabble!
Hi! Are all of the themes on the top post still current? Obviously Holiday and 2014 would still be current, but the others, Hometown Heroes and Bourne Identity?
Sorry if it's a silly question -- I'm new here!
Thank you!

Welcome aboard, Marmabean!
Norm edits this thread, in place, every once in a while, but hasn't for at least the last couple of weeks. I believe the "Hero" slot's past and probably the "Bourne" one too. The latest episode uses a "Holiday" drabble, and good drabbles often get slotted in at any time.

Thank you! I thought that the Hero slot was past, as I do listen to the podcast! Thanks so much for the welcome and for your reply, Algernon!

Thanks for the contribution!Kbilly wrote:I would like to nominate my Drabble "The Exam" for this... since it is alien based ...
But, the way you do that is not by posting here, but by putting the theme, in parentheses, in the title and then bumping your thread (one time only) to put it back at the top of the queue/sub-forum.

And the update has occurred. Huzzah!
Feel free to send drabbles to the submissions address, too, folks. The less effort I have to expend to find 'em, the better your odds.

Are there any new prompts coming for August 2015 and beyond?Scattercat wrote:And the update has occurred. Huzzah!
Out of interest, how often do drabbles get plucked from the "Drabbles" forum and incorporated on the Drabblecast? Once in a blue moon I suppose?

Re: Drabble Prompts for Upcoming Shows!
Just came to add them for September. August is Lovecraft Month, so Norm picks all those stories by soliciting them; I haven't read most of 'em and don't know the themes.
Drabbles are plucked from the forums very intermittently at present. I am hoping to update our process soon.

Re: Drabble Prompts for Upcoming Shows!
With women and aliens month(s) still in effect will there be a drabble Norm? If so what shall this story prompt or theme be?
If I wrote it you can read it unless you sound like Fran Drescher.
