I saw my mirror image reach out and hit my beautiful wife. She saw me; her face expressed relief, she new she was safe now. I ran for the gun I kept it my bedside drawer. I looked into his rage filled eyes. Designed as a decoy to keep me safe, it made me sick that he ended up hurting the person I love most in the world. I pulled the trigger. I looked at the still corpse expecting to see the blue gelatinous plasma that substituted blood, but it was red. He was real, that means…I am the android.

The concept of the realization that you're not "Prime" has me thinking. Wouldn't it make a good story to have an alien invasion that consisted of aliens taking over people's dream personalities, which then take over their waking personalities?

YES! I do remember Sizzle – it was a good story.
That would make for a very interesting plot line. What if the waking personalities then retained the uninhibited characteristics of the dream personality??

In my experience that would make for a lot of frustration. We'd all be naked, but we'd always wake up before we could do anything about it.
