I struggled at my bonds but to no avail. I could only make muffled sounds through the gag.

"There's a historical precedent you know," the professor continued as he inserted a hypodermic needle into the vial. "It was only after the Black Plague that a middle class became possible. Just think of it as tough love."

It has kind of a B movie feel to it so I gave it a title that would fit that feel.

This drabble reminds me of a conversation I had many years ago (in my early 20's) with a couple friends of mine. They were both expounding on the idea that nothing would be better for the planet than a nice super-virus that would wipe out 99% of the population.

This conversation might bother me today, since one of those friends now holds two Ph.D's (in biology and chemistry) and works in a leading genetic research firm while the other participant in the conversation has a Ph.D. in biochemistry.)

Fortunately, both of them took the "screw the planet" route and generated some offspring, so I think they back on Team-Human.
