Tuned Out

Post by LizPennies » Sun Feb 03, 2013 5:07 am

(A death poem for television. okay... so this one is a bit of a stretch, and I'm conflicted about posting it here, but it's kind of fun so I'll risk it not quite fitting in just for sake of sharing. I've been away too long and miss you guys. As I mention in my last post some friends and I have been doing some writing exercises where you must write something withing ten minutes using 3 randomly drawn words from a pile. This round included, "Stun Guns," "Disco," and "Television.")

Television holds so little attention
Time has slipped beyond its worthy mention
The glow that once held us all has faded
Much like disco's legacy left bitter-jaded
Self-fulfilling prophecy airing Logan's Run
Jaws drop like Trekkies with guns set to stun
Such inspirational ideas doth pass
Replaced by reality and Jack Ass

It once foretold technological advances
Now it merely shows Stars at Dances
Channel after channel of obscene
News networks are nothing if not mean
This display lost amidst the static
Leaves one pondering the tragic
Stupidity grows as does my tension
Television is dead, yet airs no mention.

Welcome back, Liz. We missed ya.
Reminds me of what it must have been like for Norm to come up with 75 Lines.

I really actually do despise poetry. I'm just not very good at it. ....Now that I'm in more of my element, taking creative writing courses with a bit of a macabre tone to them, I'll be around a lot more often. I'm actually working on a great demon short story right now that will be a nice fit, I feel. :)

Also, I heard about Norm's big news as well as a couple of other great Drabblecast related things. So proud of everyone involved with this site.
