Distant Echoes of a Story Long Forgotten

Post by Flintknapper » Fri May 10, 2013 4:55 pm

The archaeologist pointed to the petroglyphs on the rock. There was a bird which soared high above a spiraled sun. Below a mountain goat was chased by human-like figures adorned with masks. They carried shields and spears. A plumed serpent stretched beneath their feet.

He spent time detailing to us the intricacies of the patterns and the expected time period to which this particular rock panel dated. Our guide pointed out the skill and craftsmanship it took to peck the stone and the hours, perhaps even days, invested in constructing it. He spoke of it telling a story long forgotten.
