The Best Spot to Watch a World Burn (Glass Half Full Prompt)

Post by JarodKAnderson » Thu May 01, 2014 4:16 am

The crystal prison that holds my consciousness doesn't hurt exactly. It's more like that itchy-nose feeling you get as soon as your hands are full and you can't scratch. Only, my whole body is the itch.

They shot me into space, those noble guardians of the common man. They didn't have the stones to kill me.

Left me my sight and my thoughts. How kind. How enlightened. Forever awake. Forever pondering my isolation. What a mercy.

But, I do know something they don't. They never did find the real doomsday device. So, really, I'm in the only safe place now.

It works, but I think it would work better as a short story, detail the trial and weave in the hints to the final reveal. There is just so much story in that final line.
