“Daddy?”
I woke up to the sound of my daughter crying. I stumbled into her room. Everything was a blur without my glasses, and the only illumination was from her Sleeping Beauty night light. She stood next to her bed crying. I picked her up to comfort her and put my hand on the back of her head. No hair, only bare skin. Confused, I stopped rocking her. My eyes now acclimated to the low light. I looked beyond the thing I was holding to her bed, where she slept soundly, just as it sunk its teeth into my neck.

I am infatuated with the idea of the creepy thing or scary thing being right there but someone not knowing it. A neck-biting thing is horrific, but the character picked it up. And comforted it! That to me is scary. Thanks for the drabble.
