He tried not to panic. He had always had a problem with tight spaces, and this situation was testing his resolve.

He couldn't recall how he got there, and what he saw made little sense either. He was helplessly buried under an uncountable number of shovels, gem stones, and clover clippings... and cadavers.

He could handle those things -- even the bodies -- but the worst was the liberated human hearts, still wet with trappings of life.

Suddenly, voices.


The mountainous tomb lurched.


A hand grabs him and throws him onto a single spade. Light! Air!

"Jack of Clubs! Blackjack!"
Still wet behind the gears.
