When It's Time, It's Time [Category: Halloween]

Trying my hand at a themed Drabble. It's kinda Halloween.

[ Update: Changed the title. Really didn't like the first one I came up with ]
------------------------------------------------

Booooooo

I put down my knitting. “Who said that?”

Booooooooooooo!

“That's not funny.” I looked around my yarn shop. “Who's there?”

It's tiiiiiiiiiiime!

I shivered, remembering. “What? Today? Now? It can't be.” I rose from my chair behind the counter and walked to the front door. I locked it, and turned the sign to “Closed.” I muttered under my breath, “It's too soon.”

In the back room, an iron kettle sat on a table, a pile of cloth neatly folded beside it. Picking up the top piece, I lowered it into the kettle.

Hurrrrrrrry.”

“Don't rush me. I'm dyeing here”

---------------------------------------------------------

The last line came to me first, last week. I worked backwards to get to the rest of it. Does anyone else do that?
Anyways, this was very much fun.
Not sure about the title. Nothing good came to mind.

This is kind of a shaggy dog story. And that's a good thing :)

Working backwards from a punchline? I've only written three Drabbles so far, but one of them definitely began with the punchline. Then I sort of brainstormed stuff I'd like to include and squeeged it together until it made some kind of sense within the 100-word limit. What was my life before I found Drabblecast? ;)

You guys are pretty new to the neighborhood. But we have all just stepped in to my favorite the month: when the moon is full over Drabbleworld. The full moon of Pratchett and Anderson, and Norm's Boris Karloff intros. To see what I mean, go back thru the October Episodes of years past. Pay me later.

You were probably overweight, undersexed, and prone to drinking too much.

Which is probably still the case, but at least now you can Drabble about it. ;)

More evidence you guys are working in tandem. The Abbott and Costello of Drabbleland.

Who's on First?

If I lived in Tynsdale, perhaps. But it's so far from England...

That could be risky. Time travel paradoxes and all that.
If I listen to the past episodes in the freezer, maybe it will minimise the danger of repurcussions.
Or can you suggest more reliable preventative measures?

Definition of my life: An endless source of nonsensical and weird inspiration. :?

I want to know, maybe you can tell me...
Did the Brits invent Cheerios?

I always thought Cheerios were an American import...

Just checked Wikipedia... Yep :)

I'm not familiar with those guys. Wouldn't Morcomb and Wise be more appropriate anyway?

It probably wouldn't make any sense, as the form of baseball you play over there doesn't have 3 bases called First, Second, and Third. But if Morcomb and Wise are smart, they should make a Cricket version.

Smart?

Morecambe and Wise are DEAD, Man! Look them up on youtube. Especially the routine they did with Andre Previn.

If they were REALLY good, being dead wouldn't stop them adapting the A&C routine to cricket.

Of course, someone would have to invent an explanation of cricket that makes sense in order to understand the joke. :D

Don't know which is better, but A&C are definitely deader.

Felt a little odd reading my own drabble, but I wanted to try out the echo/pitch functions in Audacity.
