It's a Scary World Out There
How she dreaded leaving her apartment! It took years for her to feel safe in the small bubble she created around her home, shielded from the crazies, murderers and rapists in the world. But she got the letter and had to go. She rented a car and set out, a knife tucked in her coat, aware that she might be attacked at any moment. The road was empty, save corn, the kind that hid serial killers. Needing to stop for gas, her heart raced. She pulled in, sat until a man came out to assist her. She would strike first.

Nice! I like this because even in this short space you had great build up. The hammer is pulled back - but to black and . . . bang. Love it.
