Black Friday

Post by eric_marsh » Tue May 19, 2015 2:00 am

After robots replaced most workers the Congress wrote ever more severe laws punishing the "lazy" unemployed for not having jobs.

Eventually being poor, which they reasoned demonstrated anti-social attitudes, was made a felony. To reduce the increased costs of operating new prisons, repeat offenders were deemed incorrigible. The robot executioners stayed busy.

Getting rid of the poor people solved many problems. The world returned to environmental sustainability. Of course those who unwisely over invested in prisons and fossil fuels became poor and were put down.

It was a black Friday when the stock market tanked, taking humanity with it.

Poverty is natural selection's incentivizer.
But then come along the well-intentioned enablers of poverty, whose happiness is disturbed by the sight of suffering. Alleviating the suffering of the poor lessens their own suffering. And so, out of their own selfish motives, religions and political organizations materialize to exalt charity as a virtue.

But like dams in a natural ecosystem, altruism distorts the natural incentives of survival of the fittest, resulting in vast reservoirs of less-than-fit individuals, leaving Darwin to stew in his own juices.

No one seems to have even considered the possibility of doing precisely the opposite.

If you want to reduce poverty, make it more intolerable. Remove the safety net. Stop the nonsense about "Fairness". Destroy the slums and send unsuccessful human beings to Antarctica. Recessivize tax rates. Outlaw trailer parks.

Guilt, shaming, fairness... so altruistic... so unscientific.
