“Stupid drabble,” she muttered as she chased it around the room, kicking at it as it cringed away from her. It began life as a bloated 500-word chapter. Now there were pieces scattered all around. She had trimmed whole limbs and delicate flowers alike. It was stubbornly refusing to surrender its last words so that it could be squeezed into the tight girdle of a 100-word drabble.
As it huddled in the corner, she noticed one of its limbs gently waving. With a snick of her clippers she replaced the limb with a shorter one supporting a fragile blossom. Perfect.
