Pandemic

Post by ROU Killing Time » Wed Aug 12, 2009 6:24 am

I now chronicle the end of mankind.

A billion eyes were running.

Countless noses sniffled and twitched uncontrollably.

The orgiastic excesses in the streets rivaled Rome and Sodom and Gomorrah combined as humanity collectively strove to steal the last bit of life from death's cold grasp.

Carrot futures exploded in value as carotene was the only substance known to slow the advance of the disease.

Our end is inevitable, of course.

The reign of man as lord and master of the earth has reached its conclusion.

We have all been laid low, vanquished by our final foe, the bunny flu.

Soundtrack to Pandemic (Note: This too is a drabble...)

Post by ROU Killing Time » Wed Aug 12, 2009 8:31 am

"Soundtrack to Pandemic, ala Drabble"

A Soundtrack to play in your heads.
Line 1: Winds rise evocative of a scene of desolation
Line 2: Sounds of sniffling, few at first then of many people
Line 3: Sniffling gives way to sneezing as throngs flood the street in search of Kleenex, now more rare than bread in the old USSR.
Line 4: Boom Chicka Wow-Wow
Line 5: Chaotic sounds of Wall-Street merged with sound FX from Line 2
Line 6: Foreboding strings, very heavy on the cello and bass.
Line 7: Foreboding strings fade to end of line.
Line 8: Evocative winds from Line 1 rise again and fade to
PostFX: Sound of rabbits chewing carrots

Pretty good Mr. police box Man, pretty good.
You're my quasi-ichthian angel, you're my half-amphibian queen...

Thx

Like I said over on the other thread, it's the first time my wife has actually laughed out loud at one of these (she usually rolls her eyes.)

Didn't even have to explain the twitching noses and orgiastic excesses bit.

I think I might be safe from the clutches of Miss Grimsley too. Then again, I didn't start any sentences with gerunds and that seems to be the main component for the summoning ritual.

I meant to commend you on the addition of staging suggestions for each line. This adds a whole new dimension to drabbles. Good out-of-the-box thinking! If you add the music, you can submit it as a bbardle.

Thx, even if it does come across as blatant pimping of the drabble.

(Not that I'm alone in lit-pimping around here, but I freely admit to being as flagrant as the Bunny Ranch in Nevada about it...)

*note clever tie-in to drabble in above sentence.

I just thought the transition from apocalyptic disease to "Boom Chicka-wow-wow" was funny enough to share...

Oh ya, hopefully Miss Grimsley can be left alone a little more to do whatever it is she does involving latex in her spare time.

I'm actually running my drabbles through Word now and looking for little green lines... :P
