An owl landed on my shoulder, to tell me it was sorry. I said had no idea what it was on about and, because one must be firm with owls, that I expected it was too late for its apology to do anyone any good anyways.

Nevertheless, when I arrived home, I found the bones of a mouse on my porch, neatly piled into a miniature ziggurat with the skull on top, eye sockets flickering like candles on a birthday cake. The lights wouldn't go out no matter how hard I blew, though, which only goes to show about owls.
