The Moment of Death for Howard Phillips Lovecraft

Post by El Barto » Sun Jul 21, 2019 8:45 pm

As the pain in his abdomen reached an excruciating crescendo, Lovecraft crushed his tongue into pulp and yielded to intestinal cancer.

An unknowable amount of time later, Lovecraft opened his eyes and gasped at the lack of pain, absence of blood, and elderly black gentleman sitting next to him, reading a book of nursery rhymes in a room well-lit by golden sunlight.

Birds chirped sweetly.

“Am I . . . dead?”

“Yes. It’s just you and me sitting quietly in this room, for all eternity.”

Lovecraft drew in a deep breath to scream. His attempt produced only . . . the giggle of a happy baby.
