These Trying Times (Lockdown Blues)

Post by Ichabod » Tue Nov 03, 2020 6:54 am

I feel the cold gun barrel hard against my temple and imagine the shape of the mark it must be leaving.

I’m too afraid to speak or move; her nerves are frayed, wound tight to the point of snapping. Any wrong word or involuntary twitch could be my last.

“Do it,” she commands again through gritted teeth.

Finally, I gain control of my body. I reach out… and gently lower the toilet seat.

“Ha,” she crows, “I KNEW you could!”

Her eyes narrow and I hear the stiff metallic click as she cocks the pistol, “Now let’s talk about motivation.”

That’s why I don’t let my wife have a gun, especially after what she’s already done to me with the potato peeler. Needless to say, I don’t urinate while standing anymore.

Love the Drabble.
