Clowns & Bunnies: Updates and Soforth.
Re: Clowns & Bunnies: Got a voice you want to cast?
Oh, from a few pages back, if you're ever looking for old-school style video game type music, 8bitcollective has all of the stuff on their site licensed with a pretty spiffy CC license (BY-NC-SA I think?).

Re: Clowns & Bunnies: Updates and Soforth.
Episode 2, featuring the vocal stylings of Munsi, Moonowl, and Phenopath is close to being in the can. I have the ambiance, background music, and sFx all tracked in. Just need to record some intro and do a final polishing pass, so it should be ready to be pushed out to the interweb, oh Wednesday or so. Thursday at the latest.

Well, I'm somewhat encouraged that with no advertising outside of my blatant self-promotion on this forum and facebook that I now have 78 subscribers, according to Podbean stats. Certainly I've reached more than just my usual cadre of ROU supporters.
If I keep this up, I may well meet my aspiration to have 100's of listeners.

You haven't missed the boat at all.
Drop me an email at the new address I've set up
clownsandbunnies (at) yahoo.com
where (at) is @ of course.
Browse around sdlidster.wordpress.com to look for pieces you'd like to voice (or through the drabbles section here) but with so many new drabblers, they might be easier to find on my blog.
Also, be sure to checkout Dreamrocks Dribblecast thread for even more voicing opportunities.

I shall, but can you tell me.. or point me to the right thread.. or post.. where there might be suggestions about what kind of equipment I should have? Or if there isn't any such, tell me? (I have a PC, Windows Vista. Yes, I know. I'm a bad nerd).
Sorry, I am a total novice.. but I am extremely interested in getting involved in these types of projects, and more than happy and willing to go buy equipment and learn the ropes...
Reading over these threads, what you guys are doing is awesome, between the this one and the dribblecast. I'd love to be a part of it, I just need to get myself a setup first! Hehe.

Talia, I think Librivox's user-recommended equipment list is pretty good on the low end stuff. If you're going to spend serious money (like in the 70-100 USD range), the mic that a lot of podcasters swear by is the Snowbell USB Microphone. I've seen prices as low as 70 for it, but the lowest price the manufacturer lets people post is apparently 100 USD (according to Amazon).
If you need links, let me know. I haven't priced it out and would rather not default to advertising for amazon.

....see, now that's useful. i'm unsure my mic is up to the task of recording these things, i always go back and fixate on how staticey it sounds after. mental note, next time i get some cash, new mic....dreamrock wrote:Talia, I think Librivox's user-recommended equipment list is pretty good on the low end stuff. Re: Clowns & Bunnies: Updates and Soforth.
For the Dribblecast, I really wouldn't worry. We've been "lucky" that quite a few of our first readers have some sort of equipment for recording, but it's not really necessary.munsi wrote:....see, now that's useful. i'm unsure my mic is up to the task of recording these things, i always go back and fixate on how staticey it sounds after. mental note, next time i get some cash, new mic....dreamrock wrote:Talia, I think Librivox's user-recommended equipment list is pretty good on the low end stuff. Re: Clowns & Bunnies: Updates and Soforth.
Go back an listen to the first drabblecasts. Norm used the built-in mic. It didn't sound great, but it worked. We're not professionals, like he is.

That was an extra creepy episode! I really liked the story Phenopath read, being a big Moby Dock fan (I liked a giant monster story. Huh, who'dthunkit?)
Munsi you sounded great, and good reading skills.
Good job on the intros too, sounded great. I can't wait for this novella you speak of...
