Temple Grandin

Post by eric_marsh » Thu Feb 11, 2010 2:07 am

Not a podcast, but it is about the small screen.

Last Thursday night Janet and I saw a preview of the HBO movie Temple Grandin. It's an interesting and very well done flick about Dr. Temple Grandin who suffers from autism. If you get a chance to see it, I recommend that you do so. You will even see Janet's and my faces in the last couple minutes of the film.

I'll need to catch that on Hulu, as I don't get HBO. Grandin sounds fascinating. I'll look for the guy in the urea spraysuit

She's a remarkable person. I read her autobiography after I read about her in the book "Anthropologist from Mars." She invented a machine that keeps cows calm before they are slaughtered based on her understanding of their psychology.

I was up at the stockyard today where the Grandin designed dipping tank scene was shot. When I saw the movie it got me thinking about coatings for that industry so I'm going to shoot some test coatings for them.

Dr. Grandin was at the showing and signed a book each for Janet and me.

In the movie I'm wearing a disco era orange polyester shirt. :)
