Our own Kevin "No J" Anderson hits the big time

Post by normsherman » Fri Mar 19, 2010 8:44 am

Hey, you know that NY Times Best-Selling book called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? The one you see out front of every Borders and Barnes and Nobles in the country? The one that is now being produced as a major motion picture starring Natalie Portman?

The folks responsible-- the publishers that made all that happen: Quirk Books"-- have a new talent under contract...

Our own KEVIN "J is for Frikkin Pansies" ANDERSON!

Written by Kevin David Anderson, 'Night of the Living Trekkies' is what happens when “Galaxy Quest meets Dawn of the Dead and all hell breaks loose.”

Drabblecast TOTALLY discovered Kevin, and that's a statement, not a fact.

Congrats to Kevin!!
You can bet we're gonna be promoting this biznatch however/whenever we can. We will do our very best to make sure that everyone suckling upon the sweet nectar of this feed will be nourished by the warm, nutrient-rich, grass-scented fluid pouring forth from here on out. Indeed, they shall all wipe their pungent, milky mouths, burp accordingly, and then purchase a hard copy of your book.
Details to come, but a definite WOOHOO KEVIN is in order right now!

Thanks everyone, not just for the pats on the back, but for the positive and constructive community that is the Drabblecast.

When Norm said that – “Drabblecast TOTALLY discovered Kevin, and that's a statement, not a fact” - it wasn’t just a statement, it is a fact. Yeah, I’d been published before, but not until a story ran on the drabblecast, did anyone know who the hell I was. In fact in 2007 I was just about to give up the whole writing hobby, and go back to collecting PEZ. But when DC ran my first story I discovered an amazing community of strange listeners wanting strange stories by people just like me. It was like finding a home. A strange, bizarre, squid infested home.

If three guys a few years back hadn’t gotten together and decided to produce a podcast, I wouldn’t still be doing this. And that’s a statement, and a fact.

Thanks Drabblecast and DC community. May you continue to inspire strangeness until the aliens come and harvest us for food.

When you have conquered your first world, you will of course invite us to the Inaugural Occupation Parade, where you can make the announcement that you are only the first of many One and Zero spores to be cast from the Pod, tearing open the perturbation, filing into the cleave, changing everything.

I was hoping you would.
It fits so wonderfully, if I were L Ron Hubbard, I'd create a made-up religion based on this as an origin myth, and you could charge for your instruction Ones followed by many zeroes.

Giga-whoops, Mr.Anderson. You inspire me to continue my efforts at bizarre and oddball fiction. I need to achieve fame now by writing a story that's so good it'll be DC worthy, then go on to pen (virtually of course) the chronicle of the zombie-robot apocalypse of Ander-01D. Seems maybe the market is ready for such a work of fiction.

As far as F5iver's Ones and Zeros twabble, not only is that a great one, but it's particularly deep, mining the primal universal dichotomy in it's purest form. 0 and 1, nothingness and somethingness, visually representative of the feminine and the masculine, as well as the shield of defense and the sword of attack and on and on.

All there in two simple binary digits.

Whoa, you're writing "Trekkies?" I kept seeing that in your Facebook feed, but I figured it was just some goofy art you found. Congratulations!

Wow, great news. Congratulations.

I've read about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and the other books in this new genre, but I haven't been tempted to buy one. This one I want to read, though, and not just because it was written by someone at Drabblecast.

Good luck with it. I hope it leads to a long career.
