Cool. I scheduled Frogwash to go up at about 5PM EST on Monday and Identity to go up at about 5PM on Wednesday.

I have just heard "Same as it ever was" by Munsi and read by Swamp. Excellent reading, it had me smiling in my car all the way to work.

Hey, for those times when you don't feel like going through the rigamarole of freesound, I found a public domain sound site. The trouble is there aren't nearly as many sounds. For instance, I couldn't find a ringing phone to save my life (ended up using a fake one I made with a synthesizer a few months ago). But for the sounds it does have, it can save a few steps and if you're producing a promo (why I needed public domain sound), you don't have any of the worries about how to attribute, etc. Anyway, enough blabbing from me: pdsounds.org.

Just threw up a story by ALT. Hope everyone enjoys.

How could we not enjoy, with such a lovely lady as yourself reading.

Man, these are getting really good. I'm thinking Dribblecast Award would be pretty sweet.
Oh, and if you ever absolutely NEED sfx and you can't find it for free and can't make it yourself you can probably snag it from Audiosparx.com. Pricey though.

I haven't run into too much trouble actually finding sound effects, it just really eats into production time sifting through sounds on freesounds. And then there's the trouble with using them for promos. Blaaah.

Of the three promos I've made to date, I've made all the sound effects for all of them except the most recent one. And that one, I still used one of my own.

One day, I will have field recordings of my very own to the extent where the only sounds you hear that aren't mine are the music or other actors. BWA-HAHAHAHAHA. Well, an indie sound producer can dream, anyway.

That's the beauty of the Dribblecast. Peeps like dreamrock who enjoy sound production, can do extensive sound production and enjoy it. Folks like me can just do dry reads and enjoy doing it, because nobody is listening!

Or... I could pass my readings to dreamrock and have him produce them!

I tend toward sound production, mostly because I don't like my voice without it. I suppose that is common, but a little music or background noise goes a long way for me liking my own stuff.

In a sense, the first time I tried to tell a story using sound production was back in 1999-99ish (oh, the good old days of mp3.com). I wasn't happy with the sound quality available on consumer PCs at the time. Podcast fiction totally surprised me though. What a genius idea!

Anyway, magic.

So, yeah. If you want some sound production done, feel free to send it my way.

EDIT: Offers of free sound production extend almost exclusively to stuff for Dribblecast. I'm unemployed, I need the money if it's done for other stuff. :D

Hey, y'all. The person I usually pester to do female voices isn't going to be able to record for about a week. If you are a woman or can do an amusing faux female voice, please let me know.

Microphone quality isn't a concern.

 His Old Lady voice is perfect. I heard him do it about a dozen times before they mentioned something in the commentary that made me realize he was the one doing it. Which is how I found out he was the one doing it.

I don't recall hearing him do a generic female voice, but I've heard the complaints. Considering what it's for, I'm totally up for that. :D

Happily, I never put anything up there. But the fact that it was there inspired me to try out audio drama. Fortunately, my ears already had enough training at that point to know I shouldn't upload what I had recorded at the time.
