Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Yes, good stuff, dreamy.
Tom, I like the idea of a submission form as well. Can you include one of those "copy the letters you see" test to keep the bots at bay? Those are annoying, but they serve a purpose.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Yea, that should all be doable on the submission form. I'll look into it more.
I got episodes up to 115 posted. 9 more to go, if anybody wants to finish.
Then we can post Dreamrocks moved announcement, and the new story.

I put up the first new episode on the new site. Come join in the fun.
ROU, do you want some help adding tags to eps 1-45. Let me know where you are with it, and can work from the opposite end.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Swamp- thanks for getting that posted ASAP, looking forward to listening. I went ahead and put an episode # in front of the title. Awesome, guys!
Now, I'm not a facebook user, but there are a lot of ways we can integrate facebook into the site. What do people want in the ways of facebook sharing? Here are the zillion plugins Wordpress offers:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tags/facebook" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Dreamrock, if you still have the login info for Quincy Dribble on Twitter, we can get those updates going with a twitter plugin.

Thanks!
iTunes tool the new feed. The old one is still there, but I think it will go away once we kill the old feed. Maybe in a few weeks, once people have heard aboot the switch.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
is there a reason Itunes only sees 35 of the episodes?

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
OK so I tagged the rest of the entries. I think there are some double tags for people, for instance, tags for Munsi and Chris Munroe. I'm sure there are a few others. If that is the case for your tags, let us know which you prefer and we can fix it.

The feed was limited to 35 episodes at once. Most feeds limit you to 10, I said "What the hell. Let's do 35!"bell wrote:is there a reason Itunes only sees 35 of the episodes?
Like all feeds, it's the latest x number.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Yeh, I think each episode should have the social networking site specific share buttons, a la http://help.sharethis.com/customization/chicklet-counts. Creating numerous outside link to the site, stickying up the spiderweb, that is how you build internet mojo. We tried to employ this on drabblecast.org, and whatever it is with MobileMe and how it publishes, the buttons never worked. It is simple, easy to plug-in code though, it worked on every test site I used, so I figure we can swing it here.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
I'll sort through the 45 pages of social media plugins for Wordpress. (Unless you want to do it, Bo.
I tried Simple Twitter Connect last night, and it didn't do the job.
Anybody interested in writing a "here's who we are, here's what we do, here's how to find the forums, etc" page?

You want to clean up the Christopher Monroe Vs. Munsi tag problem?ROU Killing Time wrote:Yes, Swamp. Sorry I bagged out on getting that tagging done. Great job, everyone.

Munsi is by far the dominant tag. If you click on the Christopher Monroe tag, it will show you all ones where CM was used.
I'll try to get to social buttons here soon.

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Yeah. Instead of being consistent about the tags, I just chose the more popular of the available options for a given person. So, Christopher Munroe is Munsi and Dreamrock is J.E. Ignatius McNeill. I'm not really sure what's better ... consistency or double-tagging for folks who use their "real" names in association with their writing.tbaker2500 wrote:You want to clean up the Christopher Monroe Vs. If we get a consensus, I'll be glad to help the Inquisition repair the tagging damage.

Ooh, very nice.
I noticed two things that might just be my phone but I thought I'd mention them just in case. Wordpress says the latest mp3 is 0k big. It downloaded just fine so even if that's happening on computers, it's mostly an annoyance. The other thing is that the audio had your voice in just the left ear. Norm's music played in both.
I forget the science, but I think putting speech more in the left than right is recommended so it could just be the volume in the right ear is just lower than I expected. XD

Re: Fan Cast (Dribblecast Decision Making)
Hee hee... Nice rationalization. How about the truth- I previewed on built-in speakers, and didn't catch the left-mono problem. And I saw the file error, but it played, and I was tired. I also forgot to credit Norm's song. I fix those tonight.
But, I did experiment with loading Bo's cover art into the MP3 file, and that worked very nicely. We should consider that an expected thing. iTunes and iPods display episode art, not feed art. So if an episode doesn't have cover art imbedded, it doesn't display anything.
