Dribblecast

Post by admiralsunshine » Wed Feb 29, 2012 6:03 am

I was poking around the forums for a bit today trying to find out how to get involved in the Dribblecast, and tbaker eventually directed me back here. I have absolutely no clue where to begin with this, so I shall wait until someone with a head comes along!
Cheers everyone

Ah, what a ray of sunshine. :)

If you'd like to read stories, we'll post 'em! Any story you have rights to is fine, we mainly dip into the drabble and story section here. Post a note on the story thread that you'd like to read, asking if you can record it for The Dribblecast (has anyone said no?), record it and send it in. Submission stuff is at:
http://www.dribblecast.org/we-are-dribblecast/

In case you're wondering, yes, I just brought that page back. :D Apparently it disappeared when I was forced to use another theme when a plugin became incompatible.

Not that I have a head, but there are two ways to become involved. As a listener/critic, and as a recorder/producer. The former is much simpler, and serves the very useful function of drawing interest to the dribblecast. The latter involves reading and understanding the comments about equipment, etc, and getting a mic.
There is also a third way, which is admin. There, you get to be the party responsible for formatting and transfering the file from yahoo to the dribblecast.
And that entitles you to rebuke the powers that be for not bumping the dribblecast in an intro/outro or linking to it on the website. Because the self-replicating feature of the Drabblecast is to podcasting what the singularity is to eric marsh's quest for transhumanism.

Only 3 people will have any idea what that means.

Sounds great! I've read a bunch of the stories posted there since before I signed up to the site, but I'll check them out again from a narrator's point of view. I may keep updates going, but expect some audio in the near future either way.

So, there's a girl who is involved in the cast that I'm wanting to get going in the future, and she is interested in this as well, I can only assume that you don't mind her reading any female voices I may come across?

You need assume nothing. When it comes to the dribblecast, you pretty much rule.

The dribblecast is a place for fans to post. There is no real editorial process. We only ask that you keep it within the bounds of what you see on these forums. Minimal cursing, only seasonal jokes about Kendall's dad, and no making fun of certain people's flammability.

When you email a story, I'll get it and post it. As simple as that!

Just looked, and we have about 1,500 listeners. Huh. No pressure.

There's a nice little guitar piece that I'd like to use in the background of a read I just did, but it isn't creative commons. I got into contact with the band a few weeks ago and they gave me permission to use their stuff, but if you would rather not take the chance I understand fully.

If they say fine, it doesn't bother me one iota.
Looking forward to it!

That one was great  ! I'll definitely jump on that

I've got a friend coming over Sunday to do a couple recordings of things with multiple parts, probably knock that one out too.

Good to see new and enthusiastic dribblers. The best thing about baby-DC is the perspective it provides about how awesome Norm is knocking out weekly shows year after year.
