The Burnham Society: A new podcast nearly a year old.

Post by rowan_bristol » Sat Oct 13, 2012 4:56 pm

Hey, everyone.

Infrequent poster and sometime drabbler Rowan here to tell you about my show.

The Burnham Society is a John Hodgmanesque journey into the magical history of Chicago, where the supernatural is just another immigrant culture. The podcasts are either comedic historical lectures (now with 25% facts!) or short stories read by either me or some of the incredibly talented folks within the Chicago theatre scene. We're over at burnhamsociety.madeoffail.net.

Our top examples would be:

You Are Not The Chosen One
http://burnhamsociety.madeoffail.net/bu ... hosen-one/

Molly and The Dragon
http://burnhamsociety.madeoffail.net/bu ... he-dragon/

Changing of the Seasons
http://burnhamsociety.madeoffail.net/th ... talafiara/

We're 11 episodes in, with our twelfth going out on Friday, and new episodes roughly every other week. If you like it, feel free to listen to the rest of the episodes, or subscribe to us on itunes. Over on facebook, there's already a lively community of 20 or so folks who keep up with posts every weekday, and contribute to the silliness of the story.

Let me know what you think,
Rowan

Well, duh. :) The Devil's had a partnership with the mayor's office for decades.

Personally, I've got a four-month backlog of podcasts queued up, but I'll keep this one in mind. Good luck.

Oh, very nice! I'm quite enjoying it, about halfway through. Reminds me a lot of Munsi's "Secret History of Major Holidays". Short, sweet, and fun!

Thank you. It's one of my core beliefs. The closest I came to writing about it was episode 11, 'Tsuru'.
