"Yeah. But dramatic, right?"

Memories: We simply choose to forget.
Jim knew trusting his files to a thumb drive was risky.
His schematics and notes, 3 decades of work, all gone in a "flash".

Ooooh, please tell me this isn't autobiographical. I know too many writers who have made that mistake. One lost the half of his 20-year-attempt-at-a-novel that he had completed.Algernon Sydney is Dead wrote:Jim knew trusting his files to a thumb drive was risky.

Nope, I have automatic backups and version control (but it has been too long since I tested the recovery/restore).dreamrock wrote:Ooooh, please tell me this isn't autobiographical. Something not quite as drastic happened to a friend of mine just recently. He ignored my advice and I can't even say, "I told you so."

So, I made a twabble. I just hope all the plays on "flash" are not lost to the reader.

Oh geez. I'm an information privacy person. The crap people have loaded on flash drives and lost...patient information, nondisclosure agreement protected data...years of research...consent forms...grades.
Seriously, people should get Dropbox or something so they don't have to use those things anymore.
(They also don't do well through the spin cycle, but as far as I'm concerned at least the data is 'safe' and dead...)

Nope. If it's typical, then any competent tech -- with a soldering iron -- can extract the data. We can even extract partial data from a cracked chip (the chip is never cracked in civilian cases), if we think it's worth the expense.moonowl wrote:(They also don't do well through the spin cycle, but as far as I'm concerned at least the data is 'safe' and dead...)
Your data is safe after you've completely slagged the device with an oxy/acetylene torch. But, I would not be stunned if some crazy agency had a laser gadget that could decode the smoke patterns.

Both generation X and generation Y were taken aback when generation Z rose up; especially when their brains were eaten.

Another powerful entry in a new format. This is like gold in the 100m and 800m. The rules committee will have to address the eecummings format and lack of punctuation. Line breaks instead of periods to hit 100. It only works in written form.

Don’t think of the undead as a plague; we just released them to clean up the last invasive species we mistakenly set free.

Not bad, but dead puppies/people, etc. turned into fertilizer is a recurring theme on these twitfic threads -- even "winning" once or twice.Dame wrote:Uncle Henry planted the seeds in a lavender-scented bed. "Grow," he whispered. "Auntie always made the best compost."
If one more person posts a twitfic along this idea, I get to call, "cliché".

He screamed as his pants swallowed him, jean jaws unhinged like a snake. I watched, thinking, this is what belts are for.
