After all, that's Greek for "testicle".
That Varda would be moved to encase this sentiment in the form of a twabble, just in time for May 12, well I'm just verklempt.

I aim to please! :D I've been wanting to share that fun fact with someone--anyone--for a few weeks now. I feel like I crash-landed here and discovered it's the homeworld of my species. Huzzah!

Out of curiosity, anyone know if there are guidelines on when to post holiday-themed drabbles/twabbles so that they're up early enough to be considered for the appropriate episode?

Based on Norm's twabble-picking habits, I'd say the optimal time is 4 to 10 days1 before the holiday. But all holidays are not equal. Halloween is king, and Christmas gets some attention. The others not so much. Also, Norm will not use a holiday twabble if all the choices are humdrum.

But, many more good twabbles are posted than are picked (and a pick occasionally leaves me scratching my head). Don't fret trying to get picked so much as trying to please me.

1 Some holiday twabbles were posted and picked last minute, roughly the day of. But, best not to push it.

And some have been picked slightly after said holiday.

Dead End street cred

Post by Algernon Sydney is Dead » Tue Apr 30, 2013 3:56 am

His was the BEST street music. With melodic screams of bus passengers & rhythmic car explosions... It was all to die for!

Good to know, thanks! That's actually more of a generous time frame than I expected. The DC episodes are so well-produced that I assumed they were done and polished months or weeks in advance.

That's the spirit!
Alas, Algernon is quite dead, the world of Freedom is twitching in its death throes, and resurrecting Mr. Sydney will probably cost blood that almost no one is willing to pay with.

Also, parts of the podcast are, no doubt done weeks and months in advance. But some things must remain flexible up til the last moment to optimize the flow of bribe money1 (hint, hint).

The wind changed and my face stayed this way. Shall I be a supervillain or a circus clown? Either way, I need greasepaint.

When Karate Sensei Jin was found strangled outside his dojo, the police suspected the Master Baiter was at large again.

I am still, but still I see. I close my eyes, but think. I sleep, but dream. I die, but decompose. Doing nothing is not easy.

Music reflects the state of mind, and "music" sucks today

Video killed the songsmith. Autotune killed the voice.
Beethoven decomposes in his grave while foul lawyers rejoice.

Necessity is a mother
but seldom of invention.
It most often fathers
a larcenous intention.
Liberty sires creativity.

This is as strange as the story I read yesterday about the married man who had a sex change operation and now claims he and his wife are lesbians. I hope they kept the spare bits in case the wife decides she prefers to be straight.
You will never be DC poet laureate if you can't decide whether poor necessity is a mother or a father. Where did that bastard invention come from? And then that lothario Liberty comes in to sire what?... is creativity a nickname for Invention, or a cousin? And what of his daughter, Libertine?

Aye! I {bleep}eak it! But in this case, it's a convoluted language.

What can be a mother that fathers, while the true mother sires?

For help with your logic, I go to Google and find http://www.crushable.com/2012/09/28/ent ... obama-461/

Excuse me, but doesn't anyone fuck fathers any more?

But finally, wishing all in DC-land a happy Transgendered Parent of Invention Day tomorrow.

It's sad that some do not grasp the nuance and internal riposte of my high art. (*Pretentious sniff*) Alas, I must write for a more refined palate some times. :)

As an aside on mothers and fathers, the preponderance of life (by numbers and by mass) is still asexual.

Finally, I think the video, that you linked, is quite telling...
  1. It's from -- and for -- people whose ambition is to make "Big Brother" into everyone's nanny (mother substitute).
  2. YouTube reports:

Even our screams of terror couldn't be heard over their maddening screech. The cicadas were back, and they were hungry.
