UPDATE
As of Saturday, between 4,000 and 5,000 birds had been found dead, said Keith Stephens with the commission.

The commission said it flew over the area to gauge the scope of the event, and no birds were found outside of the initial one-mile area.

100,000 Fish dead just a little ways away from the dead bird site too. They are saying "unrelated."

Does it include a bird feeder and a fishing net?

I have to admit my zombie survival kit is lacking a bit. Since moving to Australia I let it slip a bit as most of the buildings are out in the open with floor to ceiling windows. It's almost as if they don't think the zombie apocalypse will happen!

Yet more mass animal deaths, not also in Sweden, Brazil and New Zealand: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/0 ... 04591.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Plus there have been two earthquakes in England, something that veeeeery rarely happens.

So.... end of days, anyone?

I love how Jesus explicitly states that no one knows when the end will come (not even the angels), yet, somehow, people think they know when by a "close reading of the Bible." I guess their "close reading" didn't catch that part.

Tweeds, you're misquoting, I believe the original verse reads:
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father, and a 29-year-old Raleigh North Carolina payroll clerk named Allison Warden

yeah, that has occurred to me too. So you are saying when someone comes to your door with concrete biblical calculations that the rapture is next Tuesday and asks if you've read your bible you answer, "I have! Have you?"

the one that really gets me is the part where Jesus explicitly told his disciples "never to be addressed as Father, for only God in heaven is your father" <--- paraphrased from memory, but that's the gist I believe...

Raised Catholic, that line caused a bit of a double-take when I read it.

Oh yeah, that's Matthew 23. "You are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one Teacher, the Christ. The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."

But don't take that as reason to question a man with a big title and a shiny hat. (He's got a hat, after all.)

My personal favorite Biblical distortion is how slave owners in the south used the story of Noah to justify white supremacy. In Gensis 9, Noah gets drunk and passes out, naked. His son Ham walks in and sees his dad passed out drunk, naked. Ham thinks its funny and goes and tells his brothers outside. When Noah wakes up later, he gets mad at Ham and cusses him out.

Therefore, slavery is okay.

Did you follow the logic there? No? Hmm...

Wait, what's this thread about? Oh yeah, dead animals. Weird, huh?
