Those "Forest guards" don't look too competent, and the guy without the helmet apparently took point! (Cats go for the head and neck.)

The most amusing and appalling thing, though, are all the comments like "Poor leopard", "What a waste of such a beautiful animal", etc.

who ever was taking the photos did an incredible job, its not easy to get the shutter speed and apature setting spot on like they are here, not to mention the fearing for you life aspect of the incident.

but yes Algernon, your right- not many people commenting - "poor family members watching their dads getting eaten alive"

The Yahoo!News blog was obviously hacked by leopards.

They say a leopard can't change it's spots. But they don't say anything about leopards donning people suits to infiltrate possitions of global power in order to rule the world. Thus Hacking news websites is easy by comparison.

In all fairness, it is a beautiful leopard, rampaging amongst squatty husky humans. If it was Hugh Jackman, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Penelope Cruz, Lucy Liu, Javier Bardem, and Jennifer Lawrence at that zoo, comments may read 'what a waste of such beautiful humans.'

Hmm. So it's okay to kill them, because they aren't rich white people? :o :D

Rich white BEAUTIFUL people. It's like that story in breakfast of champions (by Kilgore trout at least) about the robot that flies bombing mission over civilian areas, but no one likes him coz he has bad breath and can't dance.

As long as you're good looking, people will mourn your passing.

Princess Diana Vs Mother Terrisa comes to mind.

Anyway, I keep telling everyone, it's all a world wide leopard conspiracy.

As clearly indicated by my not at all edited comment, that couldn't possibly be what I meant.

1. Those photos are amazing, I can't imagine what it'd be like to have actually been there.
2. We have taken most of their land out from underneath them and attacks like this are anything but reprehensible for that reason.

I hope/wish most people look at this situation in that order. Humans "suck," yes. Leopards are badass, yes.
We're fascinated with the idea of wild animals killing us-- we frikkin love it, right?
Shark week is almost entirely about that subject now, and I'm sure if leopards could find a way to gestate/reproduce/attack as quickly/often as sharks do we'd have a whole "leopard week" that would ultimately serve the purposes of preservation as well.
This leopard had good P.R. skillz, that's all I'm sayin.

Do I think using "we" in describing total 'humanity' in this instance of Indian jungle policy is unfair?
Yes, of course.
Does it suck that a dude died and some others were injured? Sure.
But, will this bad-ass attack and photos help preserve leopards, which are a critically endangered species? Absolutely.
Hopefully the leopards will learn to doctor the photos in the future, like everyone else. And that's my stance.

High quality photos. Not the same as cheetah on man, but for my money, much more frightening.

Great photos of the mantis Vs goldfish there. But unless that mantis mutates into a giant human eating monster with an obscure niche Kung Fu style all of it's own, I'm going to remain more scared of the man eating leopard.

thanks for posting the pics.
