More on the wandering spider story

Post by andyd273 » Mon Mar 23, 2009 2:24 pm

Besides being in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most deadly spider on earth, a quick reading of their Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_wandering_spider) reveals this little morsel:
The wandering spiders are so-called because they wander the jungle floor at night, rather than residing in a lair or maintaining a web. During the day they hide inside termite mounds, under fallen logs and rocks, and in banana plants and bromeliads. P. nigriventer is known to hide in dark and moist places in or near human dwellings. Although rare, there have been instances of the spider depositing its nearly microscopic eggs in the ears and other orifices of human beings. These spiders are capable of laying up to one million eggs over the course of a single week.
or to sum it up, this spider is so tough it goes out stalking food like a real predator, can lay 1,000,000 eggs a week, and can infest humans.

Don't forget to clean out your ears.

For those out of the wandering loop, this frightful arachnid was the subject of some mild hysteria after being (we think) false ID'd at a grocery store in Tulsa.

That has Whole Foods cover-up written aaaallll over it.
Pay one guy to say it wasn't a deadly spider, pay another guy to dump the evidence before they can find out for sure.

"It doesn't make any sense to me why it wouldn't be saved," he said.

"there's so much we could have learned from it...why, the technology alone!" he continued...

"Downer said the spider should have been preserved for study, but he was told that the body would not be made available."

Stomped in to oblivion? Or secreted away to a highly classified location? The truth is out there.

Screw this organic BS. Save 30%, AND get your killer spiders fumigated the hell off your bananas.
Never judge anyone until you have biopsied their brain.
