Corpse-fueled Robot?

Post by groomporter » Wed Jul 15, 2009 2:49 pm

This is good case of Foxnews sensationalizing a tech story. The robot company website says nothing about the robot being able to burn dead bodies for fuel, so Fox seems to have twisted the idea of using "organic material" to add their own horrific twist to the article, but it sounded like something fun for the Drabblenews.

(Of course Fox also ignores the fact that it would require more energy to burn a fresh body than you could get out of it. )

I used that same line in court. The judge wasn't hearing it.

It does follow Fox's outrage baiting, logic leaping formula. It will be a dreadful future: man-eating robots will undermine our military presence abroad while hyper-industrialized abortion factory birth camps pump stem cells in to the immortal secular, homosexual domestic ruling class.

Obama solves the healthcare and energy crises in one fell swoop.

Seriously, though, the robots should know that these things always go in cycles. Today a robot that eats people, tomorrow a human that eats robots. Is there really any point to this rat race? Can't we all just get along?

Reminds me of Lem's Cyberiad, with its constantly repeating cycle of biological life inventing mechanical life, then going extinct, then eventually the mechanical life inventing biological life before going extinct, so far back that there's no consensus among the robots alive at the time as to which came first...

Of course there's also the tenet after the Butlerian Jihad in the "Dune" books: ""Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind"

The robot company actually had to put out a press release that it would only burn plant matter

And Fox has now removed the original story and replace it with one that makes it clear that the robot is a vegetarian. Too bad, I was thinking of donating my body to the war cause to be used as fuel for the ass-kicking robots.

I smell a coverup: We all know Fox News is in the pocket of the military-industrial complex.

Maybe the corpses are provided courtesy of the escaped armed dolphins.
Maybe this is the secret CIA program Cheney is said to have kept from congress.

That flytrap clock looks incredibly awesome, and I want one. The idea of my table digesting a mouse is kind of disgusting, but then again I've never had a rodent problem, so perhaps I don't have the requisite hatred of mice to appreciate that particular device.

Wow, just wow. Now we know what they really think of us. Good thing we built this kind of robot before the one that knows how to lie.
