Back on the subject of forum hogging I noticed a funny stat. If you click on 'User Control Panel' just below the Drabblecast mast / logo you are presented with 'Your Activity.' This totals posts in all categories and how focused you are on one topic or category. Predictably I'm most centered on Drabblenews and the reviews blog. The funny bit - I personally account for 5% of all forum posts.

Makes me wonder what ROU's number is. 80% maybe?

Most active forum: Drabbles 36 percent
11.11 percent of all forum posts came from my hogging ways. I have found many truffles.

0.64% of all posts

But that doesn't take into account my 42 alternate accounts. Then it'd be more like 88.8%

I think the post per day average may be more relevant because, assuming it remains constant over time, it's a better predictor of who will eventually take the crown from ROU. ;) Mine hovers near three a day, and I currently have 2.18% of all the posts on the forum.

I don't know ROU's post rate, but I do remember when he went over 1000, soooo I'm pretty sure I'm not going to catch up with ROU ... ever. :D

Mine is like 2.74/day at the moment. There would need to be more people posting stories on here for me to feel comfortable substantially upping my post rate since I can only post a certain percentage of my own fiction (as the rest of it is doomed for several attempts at rejection at least :lol ).

Though I have been contemplating an idea. An exercise/contest of sorts. It probably wouldn't boost my posting much, but it might encourage forum participation.

An every-other-month (or more?) writing "contest" involving odd story lengths and interesting themes. The length would change with each contest and some could be more flexible than drabbles and twabbles are (ie between 255-512 words). An example theme might be "Twisting Modern Legends" where Futurama's version of Santa Claus would be an acceptable twist or that drabble I did about the car going out to pasture (only it wouldn't count cuz I've already done it and it's probably the wrong length).

Or a sillier theme like Famous Historical Events + Mongolian Death Worms.

My 10.2% does not count the fact that ROU is actually Miss Grimsley's sock puppet.

I re-read the entire thread (including the part I've been ignoring about resurrection and zombies :( ) and I still have no idea what we're talking about here.

Maybe he was inviting us all over for a pool party.

I'm totally up for that.

Also, I see I've broken into the triple-digits in number of posts.

Watch out ROU, I'm totally gonna break your record.

Maybe.

I pm'd him the offer of a bet that ROU would post his stats by the end of the day. I didn't have time to organize the pool. No one would take the bet.

I have to post once a day minimum, as I an using my sig to sing Wierd Al's "Bob" one line per day.

I believe that would be what they call a sucker bet. I do try to keep the posts as substantive as possible, and I certainly welcome the opportunity to be outdone. It will be tough, I have manic symptioms and typomania (the internet equivalent of graphimania) on my side.

But it's not just that. Shucks, I have a forum account on EP's site, and I doubt I top 10 posts over there. I owe my hoggishness here to the following factors.

a) The awesome factor of the drabblecast, of course.
b) The awesome factor of the longtime drabblecast forumities, (you guys are all just too much damn fun to interact with.)
c) The fact that the open invitation to post drabbles and possibly get picked up led me to realize a long-time dream. namely to write something that didn't totally and completely smell like literary ass.

So, feel free to outdo me, and I shall graciously cede the lauded title of "Notorious Forum Hog" to whosoever may accomplish the feat. Just no posting drabbles one word at a time to make a hundred posts per drabble.

That would be cheating.

I also think it would be cheating to reply to each of your posts with a smiley. But that's the only way to keep pace. But it's all good.

Way to much credit than I can take. In that alternate universe, clearly Norm is the almighty one. If there's a spot open as an arch-angel, I'll step up for that job though.
