Hello everyone
My name is Mackenzie. I have been listening to the Drabble Cast for 3 years now..... sounds like a support group.
I am a Artisan & Blacksmith living in US Georgia. My day job consist of building railings and home furnishings but I very much love sculpture. I have been wanting to thank Norm and the rest of the crew for some time now. Wonderful story's here. I built this piece as a tribute to the show.
Here's looking forward to another 300 episodes.
Cheers
M Martin

Holy cool. That's is incredible!
What can you tell us about the manufacturing process?

Re: Drabble Squid
The squid arm started as a raw iron bar. The iron is heated to around 1700 *F glowing bright yellow. When the iron is this hot it will bend and move very much like cold clay. I hammered the iron with hand hammer and a mechanical hammer to draw it to a long tapered point. Then I used a electric welder to form the cups, more heating and the use of chisels on the hot iron to further form the cups, then I heated and bent the arm to shape. The base is also forged hot from iron bar. The two parts are welded together. Then the arm was colored with guilders paste, a artist pigment, lastly it was coated with bees wax to stop rusting.

Do any sword work? A DC long sword with tentacle sword guard and suction cups along the blade would be uber-iffic.
(I'm a big fan of what you smithys come up with. Jody Samson used to live near us and made my brother an awesome talon guard skull pommel long sword. A 1 of 10 ltd Ed masterwork.
Sadly, his forge has cooled for good.
