Pimp My Satellite - Lyrics

Yo Russia it's me, your arch-nemesis,
We the G's over seas with Mickydees stains on our T's,
with luxuries like you wouldn't believe, we've got more ringtones on our iphones than China's got Chinese,
We're America biotch, the land of the free
We gave you Michael Bolton and Jurassic Park 3
Our soccer teams suck and our beers taste like pee pee
but our rhymes are so phat they get type II diabetes

But enough about us, how come you ain't been callin me?
I guess you're trying to stabilize your volatile economy,
preoccupied nationwide with new domestic policies,
sike, ya right, I know you tryin to follow me
You've been
Disgraced in the space race, trying to save face after comin in second place,
Just enough to taste victory, chase history, ace Kennedy, but ya lost pace with your enemy,
and now you're layin low, plottin' for as long as we've known ya,
You hold you're head up like Neil Armstrong didn't pwn ya,
that secret space ride that you're tryin to hide isn't something I would publicize with any pride, I'll tell ya why--

We be pimpin the Hubble tonight
Put dem 20 inch rims on spinnin round right
Got da chrome on the dubs, got da subs thumpin bass
New spectrograph camera taking pictures of space
Got tricked-out subsystems bouncin' hydrolics
Don't need any of it, it's purely symbolic
Step up your product, you gotta get on it cuz we be ballin'
With a telescope that rules even harder than Lenin or Stalin

Don't fight us, our shit's tightest,
dis satellite is always packed with cuties and booties that are delighted
screamin "we are so excited!" You got that right,
Cuz you in orbit on a craft that's unrivaled
Whatchyou got Russia? Whatchyou been launchin lately?
Some hoopty-ass Sputnick lookin thing, second rate,
Like your older sister Debbie who I took on a date
to the Golden Corral, when the bill came I made her pay
"Oh silly me, I left my wallet in my Cabriolet,
I got the steak, hope that's ok, now go away,
cuz you look like Cathy Bates on a bad day,
blase, even makes your Satellite look plain"

You had enough? Cuz I can mix it up again,
I can flip it I can rip it any way you want Motherland,
You can't cope cuz our telescope's so dope,
You know there's no hope, end of the rope, end of the show,
go home, thanks for playin Russia, here's some Stoli's for the road,
and don't forget your coat when you go cuz it's so damn cold back home,
all that snow, like 23 degrees below, here we go--

A-mazing! That was one of the most hilarious thing I've ever heard in my life. That ranks up there with the scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail where Lancelot attacks the wedding.

Tweedster, how do you feel about making a music vid for this and putting it on u-tube? Seems up your alley, spread both freemode and Norm.

The thought had occurred to me. It would be a lot easier than Sci-Fi High (which is still stuck in production hell, ie I keep procrastinating because it seems just too big to ever finish), and wouldn't involve all the copyrighted characters. A dozen PhotoShopped images of "pimped" spacecraft and astronauts could serve for the bulk of it. Some Soviet propaganda images. A pimp with some hos hanging on him–all in space-suits, of course. It could work.

The song is flipping hillarious. Every person I've played it for (only 2, but still) had to stop the song and rewind it because they missed lyrics through laughing. It's actually catchy too.

That's what I'm saying, dawg! That's why I thought of you, it seems more like motion applied to static images than anything else. Plus you can grab public domain photos for most of the subjects.

someone who heard just misunderstood over at escapepod posted a youtube vid set to scenes from death note. an odd choice, but he put some effort into it.

Glad you guys liked it!

You could only get in trouble if you take images/shots directly from films, and even then, as parody (and noncommercial) it would probably be ok as "fair use", since it's no threat to Universal Studios sales. There'd be no question if we used our own animations and drawings of the characters, but yah, time consuming.

I'm all for people making derivative works of my stuff though, we only keep the non-derivative portion of our CC license because a lot less of our authors would probably be cool with having their stories interfered with or chopped up.

Well, here it is so far. Rough and unfinished.

Early criticism is okay.

The idea is to make a You Tube hit and thereby expand the audience.

Nice work.

Let me know if you'd like some 3D work for the video. The Hubble 3D models are public domiain - it would be fun to pimp it out for the video.

Let me know -- my contact info can be found here: weber.edu/planetarium

Hmm... Maybe. Anything 3D would need to be cheesed-up somehow to match the rest of the video. You couldn't have slick, clean animation stuck in amongst the obviously photoshopped pictures and grainy You Tube videos.

Is there a place where one can download these free 3D models?

That's so cool! The pimped-out Hubble is hilariously shoddy looking, I can't wait to see the whole thing. Rock on Tweedy!

There's a guy working a flash animation of Juzt Mizunderstood too, I'll post the link to that when he finishes it up.

We could cheese it up good and proper.

Here's the NASA model repository:

Spread the word to absolutely everyone. Annoy people. Actually, wait to annoy people until I see if Norm has a Drabblecast account to load it onto. That's the link we'll spam people with.

The source file is here if anyone wants to upload it to their own accounts:
