The professor surveyed the eight operating tables. Eight tables, eight bodies. Splayed thoracic and abdominal cavities with their vivisected organs glistened wetly under the operating theatre’s lights. Dialysis and perfusion equipment hummed and whirred, keeping the subjects alive.

The professor addressed his students, “You are this year’s final students; Carefully selected for your knowledge and skill. But this is the final exam and only those that can restore every organ to its rightful place within the next ninety minutes will, ahem, graduate.

“Ready? Begin.... NOW!”

The students, still somewhat groggy from the anaesthetic, began frantically fumbling for their vital organs.
