I instantly thought of King's The Mist (movie) and want to shove this imagery into a Call of Cthulhu RPG game.

There have been a some similar spider colonies reported here in the US. They all seem to be near water

I'm refusing to click on the 'How to remove a huntsman' vid on this link. I've had to get rid of the buggers every summer and they jump. Once I had to use the duster as a baseball bat when one launched from the ceiling at me.groomporter wrote:http://www.rentokil.com/blog/giant-spid ... king-over/

The guy in the video doesn't do a very good job at capturing it {:0pMikes wrote:I'm refusing to click on the 'How to remove a huntsman' vid on this link. My mind is filling in the scene, much as I'm trying to stop it.
The thing is they're not dangerous, and everyone knows they're not dangerous, but when something the size and shape of a facehugger launches itself at you that's the last thing in your mind.

Not really worth its own topic: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-13134505" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In short, sceinetists find largest intact arachnid fossil. Somehow using 'arachnid' instead of 'spider' freaks me out more.
It's a granddaddy of the goldem orb spider. If you youtube it you will find video of the golden orb trappnig and eating birds, yes birds, in Queensland.

I'm going to pretend like I read that link sitting at a bar with friends:
